We MUST start by talking about these fabulous boots by Marc Fisher from Nordstrom.
This is my second pair of Marc Fisher shoes and the quality is EXCELLENT.
(I also bought these sandals.)
These boots just fit my feet and arches really well.
It is like a little treat to put them on. And, there are not too many pairs of shoe/boots I can say that about.
I think we often retire our short sleeves during the chillier months, but there’s no reason why you can’t wear them year round.
Take my kimono top above for example.
By layering UNDER the short sleeve tops, they are suddenly ready for the season.
This high-neck, Victorian blouse is a heavy hitter for me and it is perfect to layer since the chiffon fabric is so thin.

A little black dress always gets a lot sassier (and warmer) with some tall boots!
(You can add tights for even more warmth!)
This exact dress only has a couple of sizes available, but I gave you some other LBD options from Nordstrom.
There is no rule when it comes to the length of your dress/skirt and the height of the boots.
I would just encourage you to pick a hemline that highlights, rather than hides these gorgeous boots!

These inherently sexy boots take on a much more casual feel by pairing them with a tailored blazer and jeans.

It has the awesome zip in and zip out dickey (the gray knit part).
I put a basic v-neck tee under the blazer.
The dark wash skinny jeans, keep the line long.

Oops…looks like that is the TopShop dress-correct? If so, should I size up as usual w/top shop? Normally I go smaller w/dresses, but not sure w/TopShop. One more question, on a black dress like this; it’s okay to wear black tights and black otk boots? I don’t like my legs to show above the knees, but was hoping to just barely have the tops of the boots show and wear tights.
Topshop runs VERY small. One to two sizes up. I usually buy size 2. In Topshop, size 6. In jeans size 25 or 26. In Topshop jeans, 28!

Thanks Erin…I am thinking about the Stuart Weitzman…they are a real splurge for me, and I’m a little nervous about them because I think the way they lace in the back may date them. But I love them and they fit me well.

i know over the knee boots are totally trendy right now, but truthfully, i do not think they are flattering….even you (with your fabulous figure!) looks ‘cut in half’ by these boots….the average height/weight woman shouldn’t go near these….the upper thigh is emphasized…only the sleekest of the sleek model figure can carry these off, imo…..the only way i can see them working is perhaps using a monotone situation… as in black boots with black leggings or jeans
