7 Fashion Items To Look For on Amazon

A little over a year ago, we moved to Telluride, Colorado (as most of you already know). Telluride sits in a box canyon and is not close to any major city. The town also prides itself on not having any mainstream stores. There are no chain stores here. So, it kinda goes without saying that Amazon is a lifeline! I think UPS rolls up 4 times a week with Amazon boxes.

While I mostly buy home goods and groceries, I do look for fashion pieces periodically. I know searching for clothes and accessories can sometimes seem overwhelming on Amazon, so I thought I would share the 7 fashion pieces I traditionally search for…  plus some extra essential shopping tips!

Shopping for women's ski gear on Amazon

#1 | Ski Jackets

Ski gear can be really expensive. Especially nice, quality ski jackets. Some brands I always look at are Nils, Spyder, KJUS, Sportalm, and Bogner. I put some of my picks below!

#2 | Sneakers

Next, I suggest you look for sneakers on Amazon. It takes the hassle out of having to go to the store, try them on, and decide if you like them. If you order from Amazon, you can get them in two days, decide if you like them, and then return them for free. Some brands I like are Hoka (for running), Nike for everyday, and Salomon for hiking shoes. I have the Salomon Speedcross 4 Trail Runners and LOVE them!

#3 | Scarves

Amazon is THE source for affordable blanket scarves! You can find pretty much any kind of scarf you’re looking for and get it within two days. I bought a plaid blanket scarf a few years ago and love it! Plus, it’s very affordable. Make sure you watch my video on ten ways to style a blanket scarf here.

#4 | Hats

Hats are another accessory you can get for inexpensive on Amazon. I’ve purchased newsboy hats and packable fedoras but you can find anything you need. I picked a few favorites you can shop below!

#5 | Sunglasses

You can find AMAZING dupes for high-end designer frames on Amazon. For example, you can find some square frame sunglasses like the Gucci ones (normally around $420) for $10! Just make sure you look for sunglasses that have UV protection.

#6 | Specialty Sizes

Amazon has a great selection of specialty sizes like tall, petite, and plus. I love looking for petite ski pants or petite jeans/pants on Amazon. Make sure you watch my video on how to look taller if you’re petite here.

#7 | Coats & Jackets

Lastly, Amazon has a great coats and jackets selection including specialty sizes and ranging from trench coats, to packable puffers to faux fur coats! My picks are below.

More Tips

#1 | Read Reviews

This seems like a no-brainer, but it’s worth mentioning. Reviews can be really important in choosing a product. One trick on Amazon that you can use is to look for products that only have a 5-star rating/reviews.

#2 | Know Your Size

We all know how different sizing can be for different brands. If you aren’t familiar with a brand on Amazon, knowing your measurements will make it easier to buy the correct size.

#3 | Stick With Brands You Love

If you’d rather not try out new brands, then just stick to brands you know and love. I tend to look for certain brands on Amazon otherwise I can get lost in a sea of choices. If you find a brand you love on Amazon, bookmark it so you can refer back to the page later.

#4 | Customers Also Bought/Shopped Trick

If you find a product you love, click on the “Customers also shopped” to see if you can find even more you might love or something that might be really similar, but cheaper.

#5 | Filter, Filter, Filter

When you’re searching for items on Amazon, narrow down your search by filtering. On the left-hand side of the screen (if you’re on your laptop or desktop) make sure you check off Top Retailers, Prime, and if you want, Customer Reviews. You can filter by a ton of other things but those are the top three I think are most important!

#6 | Make Sure Your Have Amazon Prime

Time is precious. By the time you remember to put something on your shopping list, finally, make it to the store, and buy it…it could have already been delivered with Amazon Prime’s two-day shipping. It just makes life a little easier. There are lots of other perks to being a Prime member too!

  1. Erin,
I’M 65 WHICH IS PROBABLY A LOT OLDER THAN THE MAJORITY OF YOUR TARGET READERS. (I DON’T KNOW WHY MY PHONE WILL NOT LET ME TYPE IN LOWER CASE SO PLEASE EXCUSE MY “YELLING” LOL). HOWEVER, I DISCOVERED YOUR YOU-TUBE CHANNEL QUITE BY ACCIDENT tonight and found it full of great style tips even for a 30+ Yrs. Retired Educator, married 46 yrs to my college sweetheart, and 3 Adult children and 8 grandchildren!
I especially liked the way your videos are planned, organized, and not full of excess chatter. Not to mention the obvious fact that you are a very smart and ELEGANT looking young woman.

I had to dress professionally for so many years but NOW that I’m retired I am finding it difficult to look “put together” YET comfortable without wearing sweatpants or other slouchy items.. Bad knees and hip don’t allow for the high heels 😢OH HOW I MISS MY HIGH HEELS. AT 5’2″, PUMPS MADE ME FEEL IN CHARGE AND MY LEGS LONG! BUT, THAT SHIP HAS long SAILED!
SINCE I’M BRAND NEW TO YOUR CHANNEL AND BLOG, I’M NOT SURE IF YOU HAVE addressed the idea of styling US older more seasoned ladies, but I would love to watch some styling tips for my age group…
I want to be Comfortable yet look stylish when attending my grandchildren’s events/games, going to my Bible Study, Book club, & Quilting groups, Also when TRAVELING and/or camping with my husband, or simple trips for errands or Dr. Appts. I tend to be hot most of the time regardless of my weight so I’m not comfortable in bulky sweaters even though I love them.
I think a lot of us older yet STILL full of life ladies could use some lifestyle tips to keep us from looking Frumpy and outdated! What do you think??
    Jane Ellen HILLIS

    1. I love this idea, Jane! I have a studio now and I am thinking of rounding up some local women to style. I will add a retired woman in her 60’s to my list!!

  2. Hi beautiful Erin,
We have about any store you need..now I did not say every store u want..no Nordstroms.
I buy blow dryers, a camo hoodie a cord to an electric coffee pot, essential oils for my soap making, toys for Christmas for my.nieces and nephews. If there is anything difficult to find around here, I get it from Amazon…you can not beat the service. Thanks for saying square sunglasses are in. I bought a pair of Tory Burch prescription ( I have a difficult script) so thsy were expensive and everyone said why did you not get aviator style. I like them.
Thanks Erin for all you do for us!! coxo😁🎃💟💟🍁🍂🍃🌾

  3. Love your blog. Love you!! Could you do a blog on cute tops to wear with jeans? I have such a hard time finding cute tops!

  4. Thank you erin!! Can you please post the links for suggested amazon hats? I think the scrves got in there by mistake.
Thank you for your tireless hard work!! Fondly, amelia!
