How To Wear A Dress With Cutouts

When we were in our 20’s, we could pretty much get away with wearing anything.

I remember wearing a midriff baring top, low rider, silk sweatpants and pumps. Sounds awful, I know, but at the time, I thought I was pretty cool.

As we get a bit older, we can still be modern, fresh and trendy, but we have to be much more strategic and age appropriate.

Let’s use a dress with cutouts as an example.

My body type is rectangular. I have very little definition in my waist so any time I can ‘create-a-waist’ I do it, to create a more proportionate look.

The dress I’m wearing below is knee length, so even though I’m exposing skin around the bust/waist, I’m keeping things pretty covered up on the lower half.

It also has empire waist cutouts (just below the bust).

This is the sweet spot for many ladies. You don’t have a lot of excess skin from babies, and it’s usually your tiniest part… a great area to highlight!

But, think about YOUR body.

If your shoulders are toned and fab, find a dress with shoulder cutouts. If your waist is tiny, wear waist cutouts. If you have a killer back, look for back cutouts.

You get the idea…

If the idea of cutouts is too scary, play around with sheer panels which creates the same effect, but doesn’t actually show skin.

Keep scrolling to SHOP the dress I’m wearing and some other really cool cutout dress options that I picked for you ladies.

Where are you going in this dress? I would wear this dress out on a date with my husband or on vacation.
