Question #1

Q1: When it comes to style, my #1 piece of advice for women is to make sure you have all the necessary wardrobe basics. If you had only one piece of wellness advice for women 40+ what would it be?
A1: It would have to be drastically reducing the amount of sugar you eat, especially added sugar. Eating sugar (including fake sugar) affects everything, from your brain power to your sleep to your ability to stay consistent in your weight. If cutting sugar altogether is too big a leap, try cutting the added sugars. If you’re eating less sugar in the foods that aren’t supposed to be sweet, then when you indulge in dessert, it won’t have as negative an effect.

Question #2

Q2: It’s probably no surprise that I love to shop. I also love to learn, take classes of all kinds, and travel. What are your favorite things to do when you aren’t working?
A2: I love gardening, but I’m also pretty lazy about it. That’s why I tend toward native wildflowers and perennials. I have a “pollinators” garden in my front yard, and seeing all of the bees and butterflies flitting around makes me happy. I also love growing some vegetables. Butternut squash is my absolute favorite veggie to eat and grow.

Question #3

Q3: What is your guilty pleasure?
A3: Good chocolate!

Question #4

Q4: I have a sweet tooth too! Ok, how about your style-related guilty pleasure?
A4: No matter the season, I can’t get enough of dresses. I love the easy, one-and-done aspect. I’ll never say no to a great dress!

Question #5

Q5: I’d define my style type as fashion-forward or classic with a touch of edge. I also love mixing styles which I talk about here. What about you? Do you have a specific style type?
A5: I would define my fashion style as a combination of classic tomboy with a side of romantic – hence my love of dresses.

By the way, if you need help defining your own signature style or go-to style uniform, I shared all my tips in this video!

Question #6

Q6: Do you have a collection of anything?
A6: I do! I have a collection of tea sets from my grandmother. They’re beautiful, but they’re stored away. With four young boys, it’s too big of a risk to have them on display.

Question #7

Q7: When you aren’t busy working and writing, what’s your ideal way to spend an afternoon or evening?
A7: I love sitting on my front porch swing with a book. I can catch the breezes and people watch. Plus, the sun sets in that direction, so the view is always lovely. I also really like thunderstorms. I think they smell amazing, and I love their intensity. Sitting on my porch swing watching a storm is one of my favorite things to do on a summer night!

Question #8

Q8: Is there a TV show or movie that you just can’t help but watch…even if it’s for the gazillionth time??
A8: I have a weakness for The Devil Wears Prada and The Shawshank Redemption. Every. Single. Time.

Question #9

Q9: What is your drink of choice?
A9: Seltzer water! I really could not live without my soda stream. For me, it’s important to avoid sugary drinks at all costs and my soda stream allows me to get creative with sparkling water. I pretty much use it every day.
By the way, Julianna shares all of the holy-grail items she just can’t live without, here.

Question #10

Q10: Anything you’re wearing on repeat right now that you love? For me, it would have to be my white Cinq a Sept blazer which I wear with all my spring/summer outfits in Telluride because it’s still a bit chilly.
A10: Yes, and it might be no surprise that it’s a dress! This dress by Reformation is amazing! It works for so many different occasions from casual to dressy and it makes me feel feminine and put together with really very little effort. I also love that it’s linen (the wrinkles don’t bother me in linen), so I can wash it easily at home.

  1. It’s funny how healthy people have a calmness about them😊. I love coffee but coffee doesn’t love me. I was wondering what exactly is decaffeinated coffee and is it a natural product? Regards Kerry.

    1. Great question, Kerry. Decaffeinated coffee is from coffee beans that have had at least 97% of their caffeine removed. Prior to roasting, the caffeine is removed by water, organic solvent, carbon dioxide, or a carbon filter. ~Erin xo
