I am a BIG fan of wearing shorts in the evening… especially at this age (40) because I think it enables you to go really short, while maintaining elegance. Somehow the fact that you are wearing shorts makes it less “lady-of-the-night,” than…say… a mini skirt. One of my goals is always to keep it classy… not trashy.
ONE SKIN RULE: When I wear shorts, whether it’s during the day or night (excluding days when it is 100+ degrees) I try to cover up a bit more on top by either wearing a short, 3/4, or long sleeve top in a breathable fabric.
DAY-TO-NIGHT: If you want to wear something like this from day-to-night, simply swap the pumps out for wedges and take off the blazer. The blazer and shoes are the two pieces that really elevate this look to the evening level.
This look is not practical for dinner with my kids. There is NO way I would wear all white around them, But it IS a great look for an adult only excursion… and really quite comfortable. The blazer will give me added warmth in the ridiculously over-air-conditioned Texas restaurants.
By the way, HUGE shout out to Jon Tiffin…the photographer that braved 90+ degrees in my backyard and took these fab pictures. GREAT job and thank you so much!
