Elevate Your Style Game on Labor Day with These 7 Easy Breezy Outfit Ideas

Labor Day Outfits

Labor Day is around the corner and it’s almost time to bid summer a fond farewell. While some of us might be experiencing chilly evenings like I am here in Telluride, for others, there’s no sign of cooler temps in sight. So, I wanted to show you a few Labor Day outfits with layering pieces that work for both warm and cooler days and nights. Each of these pieces works together almost like an end-of-summer mini capsule wardrobe. But most importantly, apart from being chic, each piece is also very easy to style and SO comfortable. Perfect for a backyard BBQ, the beach, the lake, or whatever your outdoor (or indoor!) plans might be.

If you’re not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet…you’ll love these comfortable summer outfits I’ve been wearing on repeat! Make sure you check them out in this post.

Matching Linen Pants and Tank | Labor Day Outfits

1) Matching Linen Pants and Tank

This is not your traditional Labor Day outfit roundup in that I’m not embracing the red, white, and blue theme. Instead, I’m excited about these pretty neutrals and gauzy fabrics…that you can wear for Labor Day and beyond. First up, this linen-cotton blend pants and tank matching set from Splendid. This set is actually the base for most of the outfits you’ll see throughout this post!

The pants are a pull-on style, have a relaxed fit, and have a high, drawstring waist. I mean these are VERY comfy pants. They have just shy of a 30” inseam so I can wear sandals with them (I’m 5’4”). The matching tank is slightly cropped with a button front and also has a relaxed fit. The straps are bra-friendly too which is always a bonus. This is such a versatile set that can be styled in so many different ways. Here I’m just wearing both pieces with some summery Sam Edelman slides that have a padded footbed for maximum comfort, and a neutral hat and sunnies. But keep scrolling for some layers that will work beautifully with this set!

Linen Maxi Dress & Slide Sandals

2) Linen Maxi Dress & Slide Sandals

This breezy linen striped maxi dress by Feherty would make another casual but also very comfortable Labor Day outfit. And…it’s more versatile than you may think. It’s perfect for warm weather when you want to be covered up but not hot. There’s a button detail at the back that you can either leave open or button up to cinch in the waist a bit and add some definition. I paired the dress with the same fun crochet slides by Sam Edelman in look #1. The texture is so cool and unique on these sandals. To finish off the look I threw on the same hat and La Specs sunglasses for a truly monochromatic look. If you’re going to be outdoors, you’ll appreciate the added sun protection, not to mention the “cool hat” factor!

3) Maxi Dress With Linen Pants & Tank

I wanted to show you one more way to style the maxi dress in the previous look. Here I’m wearing the dress over the tank and pant set from Look #1 as an added layer for a little more coverage. See what I mean about it being versatile and easy to style??

4) Linen Pants and Striped Top

Here’s another way to style the same drawstring Splendid pants from Look #1. This time I thew on a neutral striped Rails half button down. It has a body-skimming fit, long sleeves, and a collared neckline. If you’ve been around for a while, you know how much I love a Rails button-down. The Rails quality and fabric really sets them apart from other brands. The tops wash and wear SO well so you’ll have them for years (literally!). I really love this striped top paired with these pants and I know I’ll wear it into fall with jeans too. This is another versatile piece because you could easily wear it with trousers or under a blazer for the office or throw it on with shorts.

I share more about my all-time favorite white Rails button-down in this post. It’s a staple piece I wear every summer!

5) Linen PantsSatin Tee & Cardigan

Here I’m wearing the same Splendid pants from the past few looks with a super soft satin top from Evereve. The v-neckline is flattering and the ruched details at the shoulder add some interest. This elevated tee with its flutter sleeves is perfect for ladies who love to stay cool but want to keep their arms covered. The flowy silky fabric is soft to the touch and super comfortable. This is a top that could also be dressed up for the office with trousers OR for date night with some jeans and cute heels or booties.

For chilly evenings, you could add this beautiful cotton blend cardigan with ¾ puff sleeves. Just drape it over your shoulders to look extra chic. The color of the stripes in the cardigan matches the tee to a…tee 😉 These are such lovely, flowy, and effortless pieces that still looked SO pulled together. You’ll see more of this cardigan in the next look too.

6) Cardigan With Linen Pants & Tank

Here’s a close-up of the striped cardigan I wore in the previous look. This time I’m wearing it with the Splendid linen pants and tank. You can see the slight puff shoulder, 3/4 sleeves, and tonal buttons. What you can’t see is the soft knit cotton blend fabric that is so wonderful on the skin. Trust me, this is such a great 3rd layer to wear into fall. As you can see, all of the pieces work together so seamlessly and beautifully. Like the easiest easy button there is!

Cropped Blazer With Linen Pants

7) Cropped Blazer With Linen Pants & Tank

And last but not least, I wanted to share a slightly dressier way to style the Splendid pants and tank…this time with a striped linen cropped blazer in the same gorgeous neutral tones, and some wedge sandals. The blazer is double-breasted and has lightly padded shoulders to give it some structure. This is still a very breezy look, but with the addition of the Dolce Vita wedge sandals, it’s a bit more elevated. If your Labor Day party is outdoors or by the pool, just swap out the wedges for some flat sandals. There’s also a super cute pair of matching shorts that would make for a casual “suit” too. You can wear the blazer with trousers or jeans as well.

Which of these looks is your favorite? Do you have any fun plans this coming Labor Day weekend? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
