Fall Wardrobe Staples
It’s officially fall! Can you believe it? The temps in Texas are FINALLY starting to drop, and I’m excited to start all the Fall Things! The kids have urged me to get Halloween decorations, and I am all about a good Chai Tea Latte (instead of Pumpkin Spice Latte). One of my favorite things is changing out my closet, and I want to share my favorite ways to update your fall wardrobe. Here are three easy and actionable tips!

1) Update Your Basics
Now is the time to inventory your basics and foundation garments. Breathe some new life into your closet by donating or getting rid of anything that doesn’t fit, has unremovable stains, is worn out/faded, or just doesn’t make you happy anymore. I use Marie Kondo’s method and thank these pieces for their service to me and wish them a new life making someone else happy.
Then, it’s time to add some new basics back into your closet. Based on the fall trends, here is a list of some must-have basics for the fall.
Remember, go with a style that is FLATTERING FOR YOU! If you love and look confident in skinny jeans, then rock those bad boys! It doesn’t matter that baggy jeans are in!

2) Just Add Leather
Leather was seen ALL OVER the runways from big pieces like trench coats to smaller accessories. It adds an elevated touch because of the different texture. You can choose vegan options or not. It’s up to your ethical beliefs and budget! Personally, I have been loving the vegan leather pieces that are out because the quality looks great, and the price is more reasonable compared to real leather. These are some fun options to keep in mind while shopping:
- Leather shorts are a great way to incorporate a Fall look even if it’s warmer outside. Hello, Texas weather! I’m talking to you!
- Change up your regular trouser routine with leather pants and elevate a simple work outfit.
- A leather blazer worn over the shoulder with a dress or tank adds that editor chic look and is also perfect for dinner when it’s chilly outside but warm inside or vice versa.
- Wear a leather baseball cap for those bad hair days.

3) Falling For Faux Fur
Last but not least is my FAVORITE way to update your fall wardrobe! Faux fur just adds that luxe touch to any outfit, and I cannot recommend it enough! If fuzzy pieces are not your thing, then consider adding a smaller piece like a faux fur-trimmed jacket or even a plush bag! Even shearling-lined shoes are having a moment. Again, it’s that texture element that will give your outfit an elevated edge. Here are my favorite faux fur picks:
Alright ladies, which of these tips is your favorite? I hope this post helps you update your fall wardrobe with confidence! Which one will you try this season?
