Summer 2025 Fashion Trends You’ll Actually Want to Wear

As the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, there’s nothing more refreshing than a seasonal wardrobe update. But if you’ve ever scrolled through runway photos and thought, “That looks amazing—but where would I actually wear it?” …you’re not alone. Runway trends can feel impossible to translate into your daily wardrobe. And, summer isn’t exactly the easiest style season either when it comes to dressing classy and polished.

I believe in real-life fashion for real women. That’s why I’m carefully selecting the top Spring/Summer 2025 trends that I believe are the most wearable that you’ll actually reach for again and again. Whether you’re planning a vacation, brunching with friends, or just elevating your everyday outfits, these trends are your style sweet spot—modern, flattering, and simple. Because being on trend shouldnt mean sacrificing your style, or your comfort. Keep scrolling for the best ways to refresh your style with easy, wearable trends this season!

Trends are exciting, but don’t forget your basics! Our Summer Capsule Wardrobe will help you build the foundation of your wardrobe effortlessly!

1. Elevated Neutrals

Neutrals are having a major moment—again—and I’m here for it! But this season, it’s all about giving these timeless tones a fresh, luxurious update. Think creamy ivories, soft taupes, warm sands, and rich oatmeals that mix and match beautifully. Tonal dressing in these hues creates an effortlessly polished look that’s both modern and timeless.

I recently discovered a stunning cotton midi dress with crocheted detailing (pictured above)—it’s gorge, elevated, and is very wearable. The best part about this trend? You may already own the essentials to recreate these looks using high-quality, neutral staples from your own closet.

How to Wear It:
Go for a one-and-done like the dress I’m wearing in the photo above. Or, create a European-inspired look with a crisp white button-down and elegant, beige, pleated trousers. Either way, you’ll look effortlessly chic.

2. Relaxed Tailoring

Suiting gets a soft refresh in 2025 with relaxed silhouettes and lightweight fabrics. Blazers are looser and longer, pants are wider, and the vibe is “powerful and breezy.” I love wearing oversized blazers like this affordable style above lately, for running errands, and as a third layer on travel days. These 2 looks above are totally different (very wearable) ways to rock this season’s blazer trend at any age.

How to Wear It:
Try a linen-blend or soft crepe blazer over a tee and tailored shorts. Add leather slides and a sleek tote for simple sophistication.

3. Modern Workwear

Workwear in 2025 is redefining power dressing—it’s no longer about stiff structure, but about fluid polish and quiet confidence. Think breathable fabrics, elevated basics, and versatile pieces that take you seamlessly from desk to dinner. This trend is all about wardrobe essentials that support your ambition without ever compromising comfort.

I love this chic, fashion-forward vest and trouser set by Aritzia. You can wear the pieces together or mix them with other staples in your wardrobe. And, let me tell you, you will not find trousers you love more than these. They come in tons of colors, fabrics, and inseam lengths, so there’s something for everyone.

How to Wear It:
Style wide-leg trousers with a tailored vest for a sleek, contemporary look (like I did above). Or, opt for a loose-fitting double-breasted blazer paired with pleated trousers and a silky blouse. Keep your palette tonal for a sophisticated, head-to-toe finish.

4. Polished Preppy (The Polo Revival)

Preppy is back—but with a modern, elevated twist. Polos are no longer just for the golf course. This season, they’re styled with flair… ribbed knits, structured collars, and luxe fabrics bring both polish and personality to the traditional Ivy League look. Above, I’ve put together 2 looks for this trend, that are so comfy and easy to wear, with the one on the left slightly more elevated, and then a little sportier on the right. The sporty-chic look is another major trend for the season, so keep scrolling for more on that!

How to Wear It:
Tuck a fitted polo into a pleated pair of shorts or jeans. Or go for a matching tank and skirt set for a sporty-chic on-the-go look.

5. Sheer Details

Translucent fabrics are everywhere this season—but it’s all about strategic styling. Think sheer sleeves, mesh overlays, or lightweight layers that offer intrigue without revealing too much. The Bronx and Banco dress above is such a special piece that has a sheer mesh overlay which adds such gorgeous interest to the look. I wore this dress during my 50th birthday Italy trip last year and plan to bring it again when we visit Austria this summer. It’s that special!

How to Wear It:
A dress or top with sheer detailing is an easy-to-wear, done-for-you option for this trend. You can also always add a slip dress or neutral cami underneath an open crochet top to add both interest and texture, while still feeling covered.

6. Sporty Chic

Athletic touches—like zippered collars, racing stripes, and sporty sandals/sneakers—are now fully integrated into everyday wear. The trick is mixing sporty and polished elements. Function meets fashion in the most elevated way with this trend. I’ve fallen in love with the new Spanx AirEssentials Pique sets (on the left above) because they are super cute and insanely comfy! There’s nothing better than slipping into one after a long day in a dress or structured outfit—it’s like a little sigh of relief. Pair the set together like I did for an easy, pulled-together look, or mix and match with other pieces in your closet. Make sure to use code ERINXSPANX for 15% off your purchase (first time customers only).

How to Wear It:
Try polished tennis-core and pickleball-inspired styles. Or try fashion-forward sneakers with a fun shirtdress for an elevated-casual look (right above).

7. Feminine Flourishes

Ruffles, puff sleeves, and peplums, oh my! These feminine, youthful elements have made their return, but in a more subtle, grown-up way. You can forget about those larger-than-life puff sleeves and ruffle details we’ve seen in recent years (and the 80’s). Today’s trendy details add a pretty, yet sophisticated touch to basics, and help add just enough of a feminine touch to your outfit. On our recent trip to the Seychelles (see everything I packed here), I wore a dramatic ruffle top paired with cut-off denim shorts—the perfect combo for a beach vacation when you want to add a little drama. This top would also look gorgeous paired with these blue and white striped pants.

How to Wear It:
Choose a midi dress with a bubble hem or a blouse with subtle puff shoulders. Keep accessories minimal to let the feminine details shine.

8. Statement Black in Summer

Who says black is just for winter? This season, fashion is embracing black for warm weather. From tops to dresses to open-knit coverups, black adds drama and polish—even in the heat. I think it can really stand out next to the greens and blooming florals of the season, and it is slimming and doesn’t show sweat…Secret weapon? Maybe so! For a perfect warm-weather outfit, pair a black sleeveless blouse with light wash jeans and black sandals like I did above. There’s nothing sexier than a gorgeous black dress for summer. The dress on the left is a showstopper for sure!

How to Wear It:
Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen, to help you stay cool, and balance out the darker color with lighter-colored accessories like a raffia clutch or sandals.

9. The Return of Yellow

From buttery pastels to bold marigold, yellow is a sunny staple of the season. It flatters a range of skin tones and adds instant joy to your outfit. For me, a soft, pastel yellow is the most flattering shade, and I have learned to avoid anything with orange or green undertones. The key to adding color-trends to your wardrobe is to find the shade that helps you light up when you put it on! And if it’s a color you love but really feel like you can’t rock it…find it in a handbag or shoe instead!

How to Wear It:
Pair a yellow midi skirt or pant with a crisp white top, or opt for a beautiful lemon yellow dress like I did above!

Spring and summer style doesn’t have to be complicated or over-the-top to feel fresh. With these wearable, elevated trends, you can embrace the season with confidence—while staying true to your elegant, timeless style.

Try the trends that speak to you, and skip the ones that don’t. Fashion should make you feel beautiful, empowered, and ready to take on the world. And while confidence often comes from knowing what works, sometimes it’s the little risks—the unexpected choices—that lead to the most powerful style moments.

So go ahead… step outside your style comfort zone. You might just surprise yourself!
