Your Accessories are Just as Important as Your Clothes
It’s STILL snowing here in Colorado…and to be honest… I’m loving it! The mud season is about to start and everyone says it’s awful. But after living in Texas for so long, I am welcoming ALL aspects of ALL seasons. That said; we are going to Hawaii over spring break, and I am absolutely thrilled! I have only been once, and it was a whirlwind trip for a wedding. On our family trip, we are planning to visit Volcanoes National Park, and hike to waterfalls… so it will definitely be an adventure! I like to be prepared for big trips well in advance, so I’ve already got my packing list ready…and I’m in the process of picking out the pieces I want to bring.
For a complete, downloadable, printable, packing list… keep scrolling.
One of the things that often gets overlooked when you are packing for your trips… are your accessories. But, they should be WAY up on the list because your accessories can elevate your whole look! Add just ONE fun accessory to your basics, and immediately you have something special!
One of the pieces we often forget to bring, or don’t think about…is a hat. As I get older, I am much more careful with my skin. The right hat can not only make you look stylish, it will also protect your scalp, and face in the sun. I don’t want to worry about packing a straw hat that will crush in my suitcase so I always look for a packable option, like this Henri Bendel hat above. Another MUST for me…? The hat has to be adjustable, so it stays on my head. I don’t want to worry about the wind blowing my hat away.
I bring two pairs of sunglasses with me on beach trips, one over-sized pair like the gold framed sunglasses above, and a sporty pair. I wear the over-sized pair by the pool or beach to provide more coverage from the sun. The pair I’m wearing (above) is in a beautiful, neutral, gold-tone so they will go with everything. They are also super glam!
You definitely need a great beach tote for your trip; one that will hold up well in the sand. I have two awesome options to choose from (above), the straw, beige tote with the chic circle handle… and the printed, black and ivory tote. I’m really torn because I think the beautiful straw bag will go with EVERYTHING, but the printed one has a surface that you could just wipe down if it gets sandy. What do you all think? Let me know in the comments below. I might even bring both since the printed option has a zip top, and I could use it as my plane bag.
I also wanted to show you this reversible bag above because I think it will not only work well for your upcoming trips, but it is also a great everyday bag. The color is incredibly chic and neutral so it will go with everything. And, even Mary Poppins would be psyched with the depth and size of this one. Guaranteed to fit it all! The tote is also reversible. The inside is a subtle and chic python print.
Wallet / Clutch
We all need something to carry our money and cards in… and when I’m traveling I like to have a wallet that doubles as a clutch. It gives me an evening bag option. The two I featured above are SO chic and versatile. They also both have amazing pockets, including a pocket for your big iPhone.

When I’m choosing jewelry for a trip, there are very specific things I look for:
1) It has to be sturdy. Dainty stays home
2) I look for multi-use pieces
3) I prefer gold and silver mixed pieces for maximum versatility
This necklace above can be worn a couple of different ways. Fasten it for a shorter, collar piece or leave it long and unfastened to create a pendant necklace.
I usually leave my wedding rings at home so I don’t risk losing them. I also like to bring a pair of statement earrings, an everyday pair of earrings and one sturdy ring (like the one above).

Again, I can’t stress enough the importance of a few stylish, key accessories on your beach trip. They will elevate your casual basics and make it look like you know what you are doing in the style department (even if you don’t).
