Affordable Fall Fashion
Do you love fall fashion as much as I do?? It’s so great for so many reasons. You get to layer a whole lot more. You don’t have to worry about showing too much skin. You get to bust out all the jackets, sweaters and boots. What’s even better, though… finding a luxe-looking outfit for less. Oh, do I LOVE a bargain. One of my long-time superpowers is finding the hidden fashion treasures in outlet, consignment and thrift stores. It is a gift that grew out of necessity. I was a fashion-loving kiddo born into a poor family. That skill and passion has stuck with me all these years. How about you? Do you love a sale? Or are you a ‘pay-full-price-and-not-blink’ kind of girl?? I think I’m actually both.
Anyway, I wanted to share a really chic, yet wearable and versatile fall outfit that is also very affordable. This look is especially for you, my deal lovers! Keep scrolling for the scoop…
The Perfect Fall Outfit
Before we dive into the specific pieces of this look, why they are awesome and how much they cost… I wanted to reiterate how important it is to have a perfect fall outfit, which I often refer to as your ‘style uniform’. Your ideal casual look should consist of three main foundational pieces…1) a chic, versatile blouse, 2) a flattering pair of jeans, and 3) comfy & cute shoes. (Depending on your climate, you might want to modify your shoes and add a 3rd layer.) Remember to choose silhouettes based on your body shape, lifestyle and comfort level.

#1) Versatile Fall Blouse
Okay, let’s begin by talking about this super cool WAYF black top. It’s SO unique. I’ve never seen anything quite like it (and that’s saying something based on my 13+ years of professional shopping!) This is a blouse that looks more like a blazer. I know. Is your mind blown? Notice the high tie waist detail which highlights the tiniest part of most women’s bodies just under the bust. The drape of this top will also conceal a tummy if that is important to you. The blouse is open on the bottom but you can wear a cami or tank underneath for more coverage. Other notable details: 1) it’s lightweight so you can wear it on those days when it’s still blazing hot, 2) It’s a universally flattering length and 3) The cost… it’s ONLY $69! (Runs true to size.) BTW, it comes in three other colors which you can see below. I am loving the espresso too!

Crop / Bra Top
Quick note: The crop top I’m wearing underneath is by Spiritual Gangster. I’ve been wearing it as a bra and cropped cami combo and really love it! I’ve actually stopped wearing bras altogether cause I’m just sick of them. Anyone else? 😉 Buh bye bras. I’m sure I’ll wear them again. Maybe I’m just rebelling now. Regardless, it feels good to be free! 😉
#2) Flattering Jeans
Next, you need the perfect pair of jeans to create the perfect fall outfit! You can go with any style of jeans now as all shapes and washes are “in” but I personally love the look of a wider, more relaxed leg. And these are under $100!! Considering the quality and fit…these jeans are a steal! If you’re on a budget and need to fill your wardrobe basics checklist, snag these before they’re gone! I’d recommend sizing down one size because they run large and are quite stretchy. These are also VERY comfortable and would work beautifully for flights or road trips.
I shot these pictures from our deck at the new house. It’s impossible to fully capture the majesty of our amazing view. It’s my favorite thing about living here!
#3) Comfy & Cute Shoes
Depending on where you live, you might want to wear a pair of booties with your fall outfit. But since it’s still pretty warm in Colorado, I went with a pair of open-toe mules by L’Agence. These heels are the only piece in this look that are over $100 but they’re SO good, I had to share them! I love the python-embossed leather and manageable 3” heel. I was also pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are (for heels). The extra-pointy toes give them a unique and elevated look.

#4) Bonus – Accessories!
A chic fall outfit wouldn’t be complete without accessories! Open Edit has some really cool jewelry that’s durable, chic, and VERY affordable. The necklace I’m wearing is white on one side and gold on the other. It’s a cool, impactful necklace you can wear with any outfit to add some oomph. The bracelet is super versatile and has mixed metals (both gold and silver) so you don’t have to worry about what hardware you have on your bag, shoes, or 3rd layer. It’s a great, everyday piece! It’s easy to get on and off too.

Hi Karen! The kick flare jeans Erin is wearing in the photos are by Whetherly and you can find them here: https://rstyle.me/+wbbMWZO4TieQTByn6q7Sew. If you’re looking for a similar pair by Wit & Wisdom, these have a similar flared style: https://rstyle.me/+J4wj-yF4UdeLk77oaY620w. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for your support! ~Team Busbee xo
Hello Erin,
What is the necklace (black v-shape) that you are wearing? I see it in some of your posts and looooove it. Thanks. Marie
It’s by Alexis Bittar and unfortunately, I think it’s sold out. I can’t find it. Here are some AB pieces marked down: https://rstyle.me/+SRkcDlsrHGktBgqQU3hqNQ

Hi Erin
Thank you for your blog including looks for over 40 and 50! I struggle at times with What is stylish at age 59. It Seems there can be a fine line between hoochy and matronly! ???? Your blog reminds me that What we wear should give us confidence, you guide me to trends to add to my own style and not just dress to bE “trendy”!.
I also appreciate your Attention to all price ranges from Nordstrom to Target and JCPenney!
You are adorable as is your family! Thank you!
Jean Jones
Thanks so much, Jean! I am SO happy to be able to reach women like you. I feel like we are all just getting started! Why would we NOT want to look great!! Erin xo
The last few years I have really gotten into shopping at Penneys, because my.husband buys me gift certificates from there for special occasions. I think i got eight items last time. I just got a beautiful dress, regular price 76.00 for 20.95. I love the ANA line. The Liz Claiburn line is great, but I size down in their clothes.I think I have that denim shirt. I am going to get the black white cardi …striped for sure. I love olive jacket and the blazer.
Penneys has really upped their game the last few years. I compliment iur store manager all the time. It does not hurt that Sephora is in Penneys also. You look beautiful Erin.
Yes, LC pants, skirts and blazers all run pretty large. The cargo jacket I featured is a.n.a. And, so is the cardigan! I agree, JCP is stepping up! Erin xo
These are all great outfit ideas (and I am a jcp shopper btw!) but i’d love to see some fall outfit ideas using more color – a big reason we love fall! yellows, oranges, greens, etc. or maybe some good unexpected color combinations for fall. (Did you see Kendall Jenner on Jimmy fallon the other night – loved her outfit!) i personally find it challenging to match and wear colors. it’s probably why I’m always wearing black and neutrals. thanks so much!
I am working on a post right now featuring bright emerald green with saddle brown and another look with rich burgundy. Color is coming!! Erin xo
eRIN, yOU MADE jCPENNEY LOOK CHIC! fUN POST. =)
Thanks, Jess! It was really fun to put together both the blog and the video! Erin xo
I love these iutfits! I halready have a lot of the items in my closet ????
Wow…that’s so neat! We have the same taste… Erin xo
Great looks and stunning pics! you have such fantastic fashion sense! just an opinion but your self tanner is getting a little too orange-y looking You don’t need it to look fabulous!
Thanks, Ashley. It’s not self-tanner, it’s a Lightrooom preset. I took these at sunset so the light is also pretty orange.
