Plaid is always a classic and on-trend print, but right now it is more IN than ever! It’s EVERYWHERE. SO if you are a plaid print lover, this is your moment. And, even if you are not, there are ways to incorporate this trendy print into your wardrobe in subtle, simple ways.
Below, I share five easy ways you can wear plaid.
#1 | Plaid Coat
This look is for those of you who either love plaid or want to try it out in a big way! This plaid coat by Marc New York is surprisingly versatile. I bought a plaid coat last year, and I wore it a ton! This one is a great length, super warm, and easy to layer. I’m wearing it over this cute gray sweater, classic dark wash jeans, western-inspired booties, and a quilted black satchel. It’s a simple, chic, and elegant look but still very classic!
#2 | Plaid Shoes & Pants
This look includes TWO plaid pieces! I’m wearing a pair of ankle strap heels. They are so adorable and a perfect unexpected piece for the office. Next, I’m wearing some bucket waist windowpane tapered trousers. They’re really unique but still feel classic. I paired these with a while lace detailed blouse. If you wanted, you could wear the coat (above) over this look too.
When wearing prints on prints, pick one color story. In this look, it’s black and white. Then, pick different scales of the print. The pants, heels and plaid coat would work together because the pants are a large print, the heels are a small print, and the coat is a small scale print.
#3 | Plaid Blazer
True story…when I looked at the tag on this plaid blazer, I thought it said $398. It’s ONLY $39!! At almost $400, I still thought it was a great dupe for the Veronica Beard blazer I’ve featured before. It’s high quality, has a zip in hooded sweatshirt dickey, it’s flattering and very stylish. You will thank me for this one! Feel free to email me: [email protected] 😉 The jeans I’m wearing are a little hard to get on but they are SO slimming…not kidding, it looks like I lost ten pounds once I got them on! I finished off the look with these affordable peep-toe booties. The color is gorgeous and is very versatile.

#4 | Plaid Scarf
This is the easiest and most noncommittal way to add plaid to your wardrobe. This is a really chunky, full blanket scarf so it’s very warm. The scarf pairs beautifully with the plaid coat from above. It’s a really chic combination. Make sure you watch my video on how to wear a blanket scarf here.
BONUS | Plaid Shirt
The last look is this lightweight plaid button-down shirt. What I love about this shirt is that it adds some feminine details to a masculine print. There’s some ruching on the sleeves as well as a subtle bubble sleeve that you can still easily layer. It’s body skimming so it gives you some shape too. I’m wearing it with skinny jeans and black booties. You could also do a honey brown bootie.
