Holiday Outfits That Aren’t Dresses OR Jeans!
I’ve written a post on how to wear jeans to a holiday party here. But if you’re thinking…”If I’m not a fan of jeans and I don’t really like to wear dresses…what the heck do I wear!?” Don’t worry, I have a few outfit ideas I know you’ll love!
If you’re looking for more holiday outfits, décor, and gift guides, you can find it all here!

TOP | SHORTS | BOOTS | EARRINGS
Outfit #1) Metallic Shorts Set
Instead of a dress or jeans…go for shorts! I know shorts may be difficult if you’re living in a cold climate. But you can always wear tights and a coat…you’ll most likely be inside when you get to the holiday party anyway. These flowy IRO shorts are super flattering because they have a thicker waistband that defines and chinches in your waist. I paired them with the matching metallic top. This top is so pretty…it has balloon sleeves, it’s sheer, and the criss-cross draping in the front is really flattering. Another great thing about both of these pieces is that you can mix and match with other items in your closet! I styled the set with some gorgeous black western-inspired Isabel Marant boots. And I also added a dramatic pair of earrings that will be a heavy hitter for me this holiday season!

PANTS | TOP | BOOTS | SUNGLASSES | BAG
Outfit #2) Faux Leather Pants
The next look is one of my favorites! I love a good pair of leather/faux leather/vegan leather pants and it’s safe to say that these are the best faux leather pants I’ve ever tried! The faux leather is super soft, stretchy, and breathable…but looks SO luxe! I love the paper bag silhouette because it’s flattering and cinches the waist. In the look above, I’m wearing them with a white button-down but you could get a little more festive for the holidays by wearing a sequin top, chic sweater, or blouse. I have on the same Isabel Marant boots but if you need a dressier option, you can wear pumps or heeled pointed-toe booties.
In case you missed it, I give more tips on how to wear leather pants over 40 here and here.
JACKET | SKIRT | BLOUSE | HEELS | SUNGLASSES
#3) Monochromatic Pop Of Color
Another unexpected holiday party outfit idea is to wear a monochromatic look that’s a fun pop of color! Monochromatic outfits are SO chic. This green Mango suit would be perfect for the holidays. The exact set has been in and out of stock, so I linked some similar options below. Pick a color you get the most compliments in and wear that! You can never go wrong with an all-black, brown, or white outfit. But for the holidays, you can try a more festive option like red, green, blue, or even pink.

SKIRT | TOP | BOOTS | RING | LIPSTICK (in Always Red) | NECKLACE (from local shop in Spain)
#4) Leather Skirt
Another option is a sexy leather skirt! But sexy doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be short. This gorgeous leather midi skirt is so sexy and flattering. The ruching gives the illusion of a slimmer waist, I love the slit in the middle, and the length is perfect!
I styled It with the same IRO metallic top from Look #1 but you could wear pretty much any thin top (so you don’t add bulk around the tummy when you tuck it in). On my feet, I’m wearing western-inspired Isabel Marant boots.

SIMILAR SWEATER | SIMILAR SKIRT | ANOTHER SIMILAR SKIRT | BOOTS | NECKLACE | LIPSTICK (in Always Red) | EARRINGS | CUFF | RING
#5) Tulle Skirt
This look is for my serious fashionistas…wear a tulle skirt! I LOVE this skirt…the tulle, the length, the creamy neutral color…it’s so pretty! I went for an all-neutral look with a white ribbed off-the-shoulder sweater and cool wedge Chelsea boots by Dolce Vita. These booties are a pretty light sand color with faux croc embossing. I also love the wedge for a little added height…any other shorties out there??

LOVe the top velvet outfit. I got the shorts but they only had the blazer left in a large at my store and I need it for tomorrow. you made me want to get polka dotted tights instead of plain to wear with it. so gorgeous!
Yay! ~Erin xo
Are tights with pumps totally put of style? I don’T want to looke lime my mom in the 80’s.
Not really, but probably not the most modern look either. Try some sleep ankle booties with your tights!
