And, ALL of Them are VERY Affordable!!
Finding cute tops to wear can be so hard especially when you’re on a budget. I actually joked recently that I should create a clothing line called “Just tops” because I swear EVERY SINGLE TIME I’m on the top hunt, I can’t find one I love. This conversation inspired this post. I wanted to help you on your top hunt… and find some really cute ones that are also insanely affordable… all from JCPenney.
My top hunt criteria:
1) You can wear a regular bra
2) Under $50.
TOP #1 | Black Puffed Sleeve Top
This black blouse is SO cute! It’s what I like to call a “not-so-basic-basic“. It’s a basic crewneck black blouse, but the puff sleeve gives it an interesting and feminine twist. I have an athletic or rectangular body type with narrow shoulders, so building up my shoulders with the puff sleeve works really well for me. This top comes in three color colors/prints. And…it’s only $14.99! This top is low on stock, so be sure to check out this similar option.
A quick note about the shoes I’m wearing…they are by Journee Collection and SO chic! I love the black leather and suede mix. They’re a really sexy shoe I think looks amazing with jeans!
TOP #2 | White Lace Top
Sometimes it can be hard to find a top with pretty and luxe-looking lace. This one is GORGEOUS! The details in this lace are so pretty and feminine. White is a basic that also literally and figuratively lightens up your look. Since this top is sleeveless, you can wear it now while it’s still warm, or layer a moto jacket over it when it gets cooler.
The shoes I’m wearing are by Liz Claiborne. The block heel makes them really comfortable, the honey brown is beautiful, and I love the added gold detail.
TOP #3 | Spicy-Toned Blouse
I love this spicy-toned top for work or running errands. The fit is flowy so you’ll feel comfortable and covered. It’s an awesome silhouette if you carry a little extra weight in the tummy. The sleeve length is interesting too. See how it falls to the elbows? That means it will keep your upper arms covered, but still cool. You will definitely wear this top into the fall season by simply layering a moto or blazer over it. The subtle stitching detail on the shoulder seams and hemline are a nice touch!
TOP #4 | Grey Cutout Tee
You know I love anything with a little bit of edge…and this top with the cutouts along the sleeves…is edgy for sure! The gray color makes it quite versatile and neutral. I would also file this one under a “not-so-basic-basic” as it’s a tee with a cool twist. Plus, the pendant necklace comes with it…how cool is that!?
TOP #5 | Coral Lace Sleeve Blouse
I love this top for multiple reasons…the color, high neck, and the lace sleeves are all feminine and gorgeous! It comes in multiple colors but I’m wearing Fire Coral. You could wear this top with jeans and heels for date night or to the office with trousers!

Tips For Finding Tops You LOVE
Think about Neckline: which neckline looks most flattering on you? Halter, scoop, v-neck, portrait? V-neck is usually flattering on most body types.
Size Matters: It’s tempting to always order your regular size, but sometimes tops look better a little looser, like the sheer tops above. Read the size and fit notes on the product page.
What About Hemline? If you have a long torso, you will likely not want to buy a ton of cropped tops or sweaters, you’ll need to look for “Tall” top options. If you are petite, be aware of the length of the top. Tops that are too long can make it look like you have really short legs.
Color? What colors do you need? Do you have all your basics?? If you are ready to add some ‘fun’ tops, what does that mean for you?? Cutouts, sexy necklines or maybe an animal print?
