Over the Knee / Tall Boots
One of the most common style-related questions I receive, “Can I wear over the knee boots?”
The short answer to that question is… YES.
Yes, you can.
I’m 43, and petite, and I wear mine all the time.
In this post, I wanted to share some styling tips for BOTH petite and tall women.
So… I teamed up with my blogger bud, Amanda Miller, from, “The Miller Affect.”
She is about 5’11’.
Keep scrolling to read more about my friend, Amanda…and see how she styled her OTK boots.

Petite Styling Tips
I am 5’4″ which is considered petite. Any height 5’4″ and under is petite.
Just because you are on the shorter side, doesn’t mean you can’t wear the things you love.
Monochromatic Dressing
I suggest wearing a monochromatic look with your over the knee boots, like I am (above).
You’ll notice I’m wearing dark blue jeans, rather than black.
I did that strategically because it keeps the line long, but also creates a little contrast… so the boots really standout.

Cropped, High Rise Jeans
You don’t want to ruin your beautiful ‘boot look‘ with bunched up jeans at the ankle.
I always wear cropped skinny jeans or leggings with my fitted boots, whether they are ankle boots or over the knee boots.
I would also strongly consider a pair of high rise jeans.
When you wear these boots, it is ALL about the legs.
When you are petite, you don’t traditionally have long legs, but you can make them look longer, by wearing a higher rise pair of jeans.
Look for a 9 inch rise or higher. If you click on product details, they usually tell you the rise measurement.

Every Inch Helps
To create the illusion of even more height, I add a hair poof.
In this case (above), I braided the section at the top center of my hair, to create a small poof…and then I threw it into a pony tail.

Wear Heels
You can swap the flat, over the knee boots, for heels… to add even more height.
When you wear heeled, over the knee boots, just make sure to keep the rest of your look pretty conservative, since the boots are so sexy.

How to Wear Over the Knee Boots if you are Tall
Amanda has all of my tall ladies covered in her post here.
She shows you a couple of outfit options and talks shaft height.
(She goes on to explain that if you are tall, boots that are supposed to be over the knee…are often not.)

More about Amanda
I’ve known Amanda Miller from, “The Miller Affect,” for several years now.
It seems like just yesterday I was meeting her for lunch in Dallas…trying to figure out how we are both going to “make it” to the Reward Style conference.
Not only did Amanda make it that year (and the following year), she has been so successful blogging, she even quit her job as a treasury analyst!
And, she is KILLING it on Instagram.
Amanda is likable, gorgeous, and, of course TALL. Holy hell. Her legs come up to the top of my head.
