So below, We’re sharing 9 spring and summer office outfits for you to get inspiration from…or recreate!

Look #1 | Pop of Color, Printed Blouse & Black Pants

The simplest way to create some excitement in your work wardrobe is to change up your color palettes with the seasons. Since we’re now in spring/summer, consider adding some fun pops of color. On the left, I’m wearing a classic pair of black Spanx pants that are SO good…just trust us, if you work in an office, you need these pants! I styled the pants with a fun printed blouse that has pops of red and pink. Then I threw on a bright red jacket to take it up a notch. I’m wearing a trench-style jacket, but you could pull off this same look with a red blazer too.

On the right, the gorgeous and lovely Melissa Meyers of The Glow Girl is sporting a similar look with a few tweaks. She’s wearing a pair of black split-leg pants with a printed blouse in a beautiful green, black, and white print. Over the blouse, she added a green pop of color with her blazer. Seeing these two outfits side-by-side should help you visualize how you can recreate these outfits with the pieces you have in your closet.

Look #2 | Pleated Pants & Blazer

Pleated pants are having a moment right now, which is perfect for office wear, especially business casual offices! But they can be a little tricky to style. We shared a full breakdown of the challenges and even more outfit ideas with pleated pants in this post in case you’re interested. My outfit on the left is a lot more casual so if you work in a fairly relaxed environment, this is a great way to wear pleated pants for the office. I’m just wearing a pair of pleated pants with a cami and a cropped blazer. You could swap the cami for a shell with a higher neckline and the sneakers for some pumps to elevate it and make it even more sophisticated, but I happen to love the look of this casual, cool outfit!

On the right, Melissa’s wearing a more elevated version with some white wide-leg pleated pants, the same printed top from the first look, and a classic black blazer. We love that she also added some chic accessories like the metallic pointed-toe heels, Prada bag, and skinny belt.

vest and white pants

Look #3 | Vest & White Pants

This is one of my favorite work outfits for spring and summer! It’s cool, on-trend, and still very sophisticated. I’m wearing a pair of super wide-leg, gaucho-style jeans by that are super cool and look more like trousers than jeans. On my top half, an on-trend vest that’s an updated take on suiting and so fashion-forward right now. If you can’t wear jeans, consider wearing a vest with matching trousers for a more polished office look, or style it with jeans to make it casual on the weekends. It’s lower cut so I added a cropped cami underneath. If a vest isn’t your style, opt for a basic white shell and a neutral blazer instead.

Classic Blouse & Black Pants

Look #4 | Classic Blouse & Black Pants

One office outfit that never goes out of style and is always easy to put together? A classic blouse and a pair of chic black pants! In the outfit above, Melissa is wearing a white blouse that’s simple, but chic. But it’s important to note that you shouldn’t throw on any ol’ blouse and pants. Melissa’s top has a square neckline and sheer puff sleeves so it’s still an elevated top. Her pants are well-fitting wide-leg pants that are on-trend but still very classic. Throw on your favorite heels, grab your work bag, and you’re ready to go!

Dress & Blazer Spring Office Outfits

Look #5 | Dress & Blazer

This is one of those outfits you can wear to work and to dinner after work! Don’t you love it when your work clothes can pull double duty? Melissa is wearing a gorgeous green silky dress that’s midi length, which is a great length for work. She styled it with an oversized houndstooth blazer that makes it office appropriate and gives off a cool-girl vibe. She added a pair of classic black pointed-toe pumps and a black handbag. She can shed the jacket for drinks or a dinner date after work or keep it on and still look night-life ready.

White Blazer Spring Office Outfits

Look #6 | White Blazer

Another fail-safe work outfit is to wear a white blazer. You can take pretty much any traditional workwear outfit and by adding a blazer, you immediately makes it feel more spring or summer-like. In this look, Melissa is wearing a monochrome brown, but her white blazer brightens the look and is SO chic!

Skirt & Blazer Spring Office Outfits

Look #7 | Skirt & Blazer

If you want an unexpected work outfit, go with a silky skirt! Melissa is rocking a chic pink, silk skirt with a white tank and oversized white blazer. The skirt material is unexpected for the office, and the length is very office appropriate. We love the way she styled it more casually with the oversized blazer  but if you want a more tailored look, swap it for a fitted tailored blazer. If this color palette isn’t your style, try a silk skirt in a different color like black, olive green, or dark blue.

Mint Green Blazer & White Jeans

Look #8 | Mint Green Blazer & White Jeans

This is one of my favorite office outfits for a casual Friday! A tee or top, some wide leg jeans, and a fun colorful blazer. This is similar to look #1, but if a bold pop of color doesn’t feel like your style, try a light or pastel colored blazer instead. This gorgeous mint green Cinq a Sept blazer is SO perfect for summer.

If you love mint green as much as we do, check out this post with 16 more of our mint green favorites.

Shorts Suit office outfit

Look #9 | Shorts Suit

This is a bit of a wildcard, but I had to share it! For those of you who don’t work in super conservative environments, this shorts suit is modern, stylish, and fresh! It’s a great way to mix things up and if you find the right shorts suit, it can be super smart-chic. And luckily, these tailored shorts suits are having a moment in fashion too so they’re easy to find if you love this outfit idea as much as we do. This is an older, red Alice + Olivia matching shorts suit but I’ll link some more options below.

White House black market always shows their dress pants w thin belts. Sometimes you wear belts and soMetimes not. Is it yes for dress pants w shirts tucked in and not neCessary for Jeans?
Back in the day we wore belts when there were belt loops.

I love the shorts suits. Wore them all the time years ago but then we wore panty hose too and it looked much better. Will panty hose ever be acceptable again? Most legs look so much better. Especially old legs! Love your work.

    • Erin Busbee says:

I think belts are awesome! Go for it!! Panty hose can work if you find the EXACT RIGHT COLOR. It’s a difficult quest.
