10+ Quintessentially Fall Outfits That are Casual, Comfortable & Giving All The Fall Vibes

What’s the weather like where you live? Erin has already had snow on the ground in Colorado but it’s just now starting to feel like fall for most Team Busbee members. Whether you’re already experiencing winter temps or still enjoying the cooler fall temps, we have some comfortable and casual fall outfits (that can also be tweaked for winter) below…

#1) Fair Isle Sweater & Jeans

You can never go wrong with a chic Fair Isle sweater and jeans! In this look, Erin’s wearing a Fair Isle sweater by Velvet that has the prettiest muted colors in it. The pistachio green, taupe, and gray color combo is even more gorgeous in person. It’s 74% alpaca wool so it will keep you warm but it’s a mid-weight knit so it’s not overly bulky or heavy. It runs true to size but is designed for a roomier fit. She styled it with her favorite, go-to pair of Mother jeans that work with pretty much any kind of shoe style. She’s wearing a pair of classic black booties but you could make it even more casual with a pair of sneakers, loafers, or flats.

#2) Cropped Sweater & Wide-Leg Jeans

In this next look, Erin’s wearing a cropped Free People sweater with some chic, casual wide-leg jeans. This sweater may look familiar if you’re an email subscriber because we featured it a ton during the NSale…it’s just that good! The jeans Erin’s wearing are the “Hustler Roller” jeans by Mother. They’re the perfect wide leg and work beautifully with boots or booties (Erin is 5’4”). But you could wear them with a pair of sneakers if you’re taller or want to get them hemmed. These jeans are so good they’re sold out almost everywhere so if you see your size, grab them!

#3) Faux Fur Jacket, Sweater & Boots

If you’re looking for a fabulous third layer to add to your wardrobe this year, this Frame faux fur jacket is amazing! Add it to any look for some extra oomph. Erin styled it with a Brochu Walker turtleneck sweater, some Mother skinny jeans, and a pair of brown Schutz boots. Erin owns these boots in four colors and LOVES them. They’re comfortable, stylish, and easy to style…and this brown color is perfect for fall! The sweater is super high-quality, warm, and cozy. And the jeans are the perfect skinnies for tucking in your knee-high or over-the-knee boots.

#4) Puffer Jacket, Jeans & Sneakers

Another wonderful third-layer option for fall is a SAM. puffer jacket or coat. Erin loves SAM. jackets because they’re warm and stylish! This one has a cool, mixed-media look with nylon quilted sleeves and a faux fur body. It also comes in a gorgeous ivory color! Under the jacket, Erin has on a classic white Free People cable-knit sweater. She added a little sparkle with these 7 For All Mankind jeans that have fun embellished details. These jeans would be perfect for the holidays too! Then, she completed the look with some shearling-lined sneakers by Voile Blanche that are a must-have if you live somewhere super cold.

#5) Layered Sweater & Jeans

Another great fall outfit idea is a pre-layered sweater and jeans! Erin’s wearing a cashmere pre-layered sweater by C by Bloomingdale’s, their in-house line. The brand’s cashmere is super soft and high-quality and we love that this sweater is already layered for you so it takes the guesswork out of it. Erin styled it with a pair of black Citizens of Humanity jeans and the same pair of black Schutz booties from look #1. To make this more comfy and casual, swap the booties for sneakers…easy peasy!

#6) Striped Sweater & Black Jeans

If you have more of a preppy personal style, consider throwing on this super cool Steve Madden sweater with your favorite black jeans for a casual but elevated look. This sweater has dramatic contrasting stripes, a flattering V-neckline, and subtle balloon sleeves. Erin styled it with the same black Citizens of Humanity jeans and a pair of Stuart Weitzman sock booties. But again, you can swap the booties for sneakers if you want a more casual look!

#7) Feminine Sweater & Flare Jeans

Are you seeing a pattern here for the perfect fall looks? Jeans + cute sweater + booties…and you’re done! In this look, Erin’s wearing an ASTR The Label sweater that has a pearl collar that’s SO beautiful. We love the chunky cable-knit short sleeves and cardigan style. You can wear it buttoned up or unbuttoned with a top underneath. Erin styled it with a pair of older Good American jeans so we linked a similar option, but any pair of jeans would look great with this sweater!

#8) Sexy Sweater & Flare Jeans

If you want to spice it up a bit or you’re looking for a casual date night look, this ASTR The Label sweater is perfect! It has a teeny tiny cutout under the bust that’s not too big and allows you to wear a regular bra. The twist front and v-neckline are also very flattering and sexy. Erin styled it with the same jeans and heels from the previous look.

#9) Elevated Tee & Jeans

For something more casual, swap the sweater for an elevated tee like this one by Nation LTD. It has a flattering v-neckline and ruffled shoulders. We also love the juxtaposition between the upper voluminous sleeves and lower fitted sleeves. Erin styled it with the same flared jeans and a pair of black pumps but you could wear any jeans or shoes. Depending on the weather, you could add a leather jacket, bomber jacket, or whatever your favorite third layering is!

#10) Colorful Sweater & Straight Leg Jeans

You may remember this sweater from this post where Erin shared all of her newest Banana Republic finds for fall. Consider adding a pop of color to your fall wardrobe this year. Erin loves the bright cobalt blue color of this fuzzy sweater. It has a longer length (great for casually wearing with leggings), a cozy mock-neck, and slouchy sleeves. The alpaca-blend knit fabric is also SO soft! She styled the sweater with some super distressed jeans by AG that are older (similar linked below) and some classic brown booties.

#11) Bomber Jacket, Sweater Vest & Jeans

This outfit is a little dressier but you can make some simple swaps to make it fit with your lifestyle or plans. Erin’s wearing a Banana Republic bomber jacket that she instantly fell in love with it. She loves the dramatic, oversized ribbed collar. The sleeves are also pretty roomy so you can layer chunkier sweaters underneath, no problem. And the herringbone tweed fabric is so beautiful in person. You can wear this with sweaters and jeans, dresses, skirts and blouses. It’s very versatile! She styled it with a sleeveless sweater vest by Line & Dot that’s the perfect layering piece for fall, a pair of denim pants by Veronica Beard, and classic brown booties. To make this more casual, swap the denim pants for straight-leg jeans and the booties for sneakers.

#12) Tunic Sweater & Jeans

If you want to elevate your longer, tunic sweaters but still look casual…style them with jeans! This Free People slouchy ottoman sweater has an oversized fit, is tunic length, and has a comfy loose mock neck. It’s that rainy-day sweater you’ll live in. Erin’s wearing the color Ecru but it comes in a few other colors as well. She styled it with the same cropped Mother jeans from look #1 and some dark burgundy booties.

#13) Loungewear Set

For the days you’re just lounging at home or only have to run out for quick errands, consider grabbing a chic loungewear set like this one by Z Supply. This set is super soft! The sweater has ribbed details at the hem, collar, and cuffs which is a lovely detail that makes this set look a bit more elevated than your basic sweatpants and sweatshirt. And the matching pants are equally as comfy!
