There’s something about sitting down for brunch on the weekends with your girlfriends, partner, or family that’s so refreshing and fun. Maybe it’s the time with loved ones, maybe it’s the slower pace of a late-morning meal, or maybe it’s the fact that you have a reason to get dressed up. But sometimes it can be difficult to figure out what to wear to brunch in winter. So, in this post, we’re sharing 10 winter brunch outfit ideas…plus a few tips on how to transition them to spring.
10 Winter Brunch Outfits
Winter brunch is a little different than your typical brunch outfit in the spring, summer, and fall because the colder weather requires extra thoughtful outfits. While an outfit may look super cohesive when you have on all your winter accessories and your warmest winter coats…you also have to consider how the outfit underneath looks, how it makes you feel, and if you’re still warm after you start to shed layers. What To Wear To Brunch In Winter
#1) Cute Winter Brunch Outfit
In this first look, Erin’s wearing one of her favorite pieces of outerwear by Alo. It’s a cool sherpa jacket that’s the perfect length, is so cozy, and is easy to dress up or down. She styled it with a pair of wide-leg white jeans and a cable knit sweater by Pistola. Erin loves to wear winter whites and beiges so this outfit variation is a go-to look for her. She completed the look with a pair of brown suede booties but you could wear flat ankle boots, sneakers, pumps, etc. depending on the dress code. This look is the perfect mix of casual and dressy. For spring, all you really have to do is ditch the jacket. If you live in a hot climate, swap the jeans for some cute denim shorts. Or swap the sweater for a breezy cotton tee.

#2) Casual Winter Brunch Outfit
Next up is a casual-cool brunch outfit. Erin’s wearing a pair of Rag & Bone joggers that look like denim but are actually a soft, lightweight, breathable cotton with the look of jeans printed on them…cool right?! They’re super comfortable, have an elastic waistband, and are a great length (Erin is 5’4”). She styled them with a basic white ribbed sweater and some brown booties. To add some warmth, Erin’s wearing a brown tweed bomber jacket from Banana Republic that’s such a cool piece to have in your closet. It’s not the warmest outerwear but if you live in a milder climate, it will keep you warm for winter brunch.
#3) Classy Winter Brunch Outfit
For something classy, comfortable, and casual, all you have to do is throw on a trendy pair of jeans, a cute sweater, and some booties! If you’re worried about being too cold, add a long camel coat to this look to amp up the drama and the warmth. Erin’s wearing a cable knit sweater by Vince, some cool jeans by Citizens of Humanity that have an optional large cuff, and a pair of eggshell booties by Schutz.
#4) Winter White Brunch Outfit
This look is similar to #3 but we wanted to share a more streamlined option in the same beautiful winter white color family. Instead of baggy jeans, Erin’s wearing a pair of white Mother jeans that she loves so much that she has them in multiple colors. The sweater by Free People has a cool texture that adds depth to the look. It’s more of an oversized sweater but the cropped length makes it feel more streamlined than the previous sweater. On her feet, she’s wearing some beige western-inspired booties by Marc Fisher. But you could style this look with knee-high boots, casual sneakers, or flats. Again, throw on your favorite overcoat and you’re ready for brunch!
If you love this look and want to see more like it, Erin shared more of her favorite affordable, neutral sweaters in this post.
#5) Elegant Winter Brunch Outfit
If you’re looking to dial up the drama for brunch, this look is your ultimate outfit inspiration! Erin’s wearing a gorgeous Max Mara coat but you could wear any faux fur or shearling coat you have to add some extra oomph. By the way, Erin did a review of this coat (that’s a celeb favorite) if you’re interested in reading her thoughts on whether it’s worth the investment or not. While this coat is an outfit-maker, it’s still important to love what you’re wearing underneath your coat. In this look, Erin’s wearing a pair of leather pants, waterproof wedge booties by La Canadienne, and a metallic eyelash sweater layered over a white button-down. This look is super chic on its own too, which is a must for brunch!

#6) Classic Winter Brunch Outfit
This is one of Erin’s simple outfit formulas and one of her favorite tops! She’s wearing a Free People bodysuit that she loves so much, she has it in green, black, and beige. The length is nice for a bodysuit and very comfortable compared to other bodysuits she’s tried. It looks amazing styled with a pair of high-waist jeans and booties. She added a belt to define the waist even more and if she was headed out to brunch, she would throw on a puffer or long coat. You can easily wear this look into spring too.

#7) Brown & Black Winter Brunch Outfit
Yes, you can wear brown and black together…and it looks SO chic! In this look, Erin’s wearing the same brown tweed bomber jacket from Banana Republic with a classic black cashmere sweater, black leather pants, and patent leather booties. We love the way Erin varied the tones and textures of the black and brown to create this chic outfit.
#8) All-Black Winter Brunch Outfit
If you’re looking for a super casual winter brunch outfit, these next two looks are for you! In this look, Erin’s wearing a set by Frank & Eileen that’s super soft, comfortable, breathable but warm, and casual but still put together. This set would also be great for travel! She dressed it up a bit by adding a white button-down underneath and then added some edge with black moto boots. Throw on a black overcoat and winter accessories to add even more warmth. You could wear this look to brunch this spring with sneakers too.
#9) Activewear Brunch Outfit
This is the look you wear to a very casual brunch with your girlfriends after a workout or running early-morning errands. Erin’s wearing the same Alo sherpa jacket with some Beyond Yoga activewear, sneakers, and a baseball cap. This look is very laid-back, but if the brunch spot you’re going to doesn’t have a strict dress code and is more casual, you’ll be fine in this outfit.
#10) Business Casual Brunch Outfit
If you’re headed to brunch with coworkers, meeting up with a friend, or just want to look somewhat business-ready for your brunch, this is the look for you. Erin is wearing a black oversized blazer with some wide leg trousers, sneakers, and a hoodie. This look is the perfect mix of business and casual. All of these pieces are great wardrobe basics to have in your closet…but we wanted to give these Favorite Daughter pants a special callout. Erin’s wearing the “Shortie” pants, which are a petite length. They puddle a little when she’s wearing sneakers, which is very on-trend, but they are perfect with heels (she’s 5’4”). The fit is nice, and the pleating is actually flattering. Erin tried a lot of pleated trousers, and these are definitely the best option she’s found!
