From Rome To Capri, Chic Italians Are Wearing These 4 Trends

What inspires you the most when you travel? The beautiful landscapes, food, history, and culture are all amazing…but we get really inspired by the fashion too! And if you love style and feeling and looking your best, you probably notice and love seeing what the locals in different cities and countries are wearing too. On a recent trip to Italy, Erin took note of what she saw chic Italian women wearing. In this post, we’re sharing some of the stylish Italian fashion trends in case you want to add a little Italian-chic into your wardrobe. Spoiler: Most of these “trends” aren’t actually even trends…

Italian Fashion Trends

#1) Menswear-Inspired Pieces

Menswear-inspired pieces have been “on-trend” for a while. Modern blazers, pleated trousers, vests, etc. are all becoming closet staples at this point. If you don’t already own any menswear-inspired pieces, we recommend grabbing a chic blazer or pleated trousers. Erin has been on the hunt for the perfect pleated trousers and found these amazing Aritzia pants right before her trip. She loved them so much that she bought them in white and black. Plus, the matching vests! Both pieces are super comfortable and breathable, the vest is very flattering and body-skimming, and the pants fit beautifully and come in multiple inseam lengths.

#2) Timeless Accessories

When you’re wandering around different cities in Italy, you won’t see the locals wearing loud statement accessories. They typically wear simpler, more understated accessories like a classic pair of sunglasses, simple jewelry, and a high-quality structured handbag. This idea of quiet luxury or stealth wealth has been on-trend for a while and Italians have mastered it. You can see a few of the accessories Erin brought along on her trip that were perfect for Italy in the photos above and we linked all of the accessories she packed below. We’re not saying you need expensive designer handbags, sunglasses, and jewelry like the ones Erin took on her trip! You can definitely find a neutral, high-quality, structured handbag that’s timeless, affordable jewelry you love, and chic, classic sunnies you’ll wear nonstop.

#3) Long Dresses

Wearing a long, flowy midi or maxi dress is a super easy and stylish way to dress for a day or night in Italy. If you’re there during the summer, you’ll see lots of linen dresses, but really any easy, breezy dresses will do! Erin was there in June and packed a lot of dresses so she would have those one-and-done pieces to throw on when she didn’t feel like putting an entire outfit together. We featured a few of them above but you can find all of her outfits for her trip to Italy here. When in doubt, go with a midi or maxi in a simple silhouette and neutral color for an effortlessly chic look in Italy.

#4) Wide-Leg Pants

Another “trend” you’ll see lots of Italian women wear is…wide-leg pants! Wide-leg pants and trousers have been popular for the past few years. Over the years they keep getting wider and wider so really, anything goes for this trend! In Italy, you’ll see lots of cotton and linen pants, pleated trousers, and baggy pants. In the photo above, Erin’s wearing a pair of really cool white pants by Reiss that have a black stripe down the side. The wide-leg silhouette is super flattering and SO comfortable. If you’re headed to Italy any time soon, definitely pack a pair of wide-leg pants!
