It’s officially spring which means…things are heating up! Summer will be here before you know it. We’ll be soaking up the sun and enjoying the outdoors for upcoming beach vacations, or spending time at the pool or lake. And having a chic coverup is just as important as having the right swimsuit. You want to feel comfortable and confident strolling by the beach or lounging poolside and heading straight to lunch or dinner. And of course, you want to look chic and feel comfy, right? Erin lived in 3 coverups during recent warm-weather trips and we know you’re going to love them as much as she does!

Best Swimsuit Coverups
1) Carolita Tiered Shirt Dress Coverup
First up is this gauzy, tiered white shirt dress from Anthropologie. This is that perfect lightweight piece to layer over your swimsuit when you need some coverage from the sun, but you don’t want anything that will make you too hot. It has a flowy fit, ¾ length sleeves, and a deep V-neck so your swimsuit top can peek through. It’s the perfect maxi length on Erin at 5’4” worn with her cute gold Sam Edelman flat sandals, but if you are shorter you may need to have it hemmed (or just tie a knot in one side to bring up the length a bit!). Since it’s a dress, you can easily wear this for brunch, a day of shopping, or just out and about…it’s pretty much a blank canvas and super versatile. If not wearing it as a coverup, you might need to wear a tank or pretty bralette underneath given the deep V neckline. It comes in multiple prints and colors that keep going in and out of stock, so we linked some similar options below.
2) Milly Abstract Coverup
This coverup by Milly is SO chic and everything you’d want in a coverup… it’s lightweight, it has sleeves and a midi length for additional sun protection, it’s easy to pack, and it can double as a dress with a simple slip layered underneath. We love the pop of red, the pretty abstract print, and that the buttons and drawstring waist allow you to control how much skin you do or don’t want to show. It’s beautiful paired with the matching one-piece swimsuit as well! Just grab a woven bag and some glam sunnies and you’re ready for a day by the pool or beach.
3) Gauzy Top & Shorts Coverup Set
How cute is this set? Erin loves this Bobi crop top so much that she bought it in white too. She’s wearing it here with a matching pair of shorts. The fabric on both pieces is a breezy, breathable, gauzy cotton. It’s very lightweight, easy to pack, and dries quickly. You can wear these pieces as a set, or as separates. The shorts are great paired with a swim top or to wear over your one-piece swimsuit. The top can be worn with denim shorts, wide-leg pants, or a pretty floral print skirt. You can mix and match the pieces in many ways, giving you SO many outfit options. This is key especially if you are shopping for things you can pack for vacation that will serve multiple purposes. If shorts aren’t your thing, Bobi also makes a matching pair of pants that we’ll link below. This is that no-brainer set you’ll reach for in the morning for your vaca coffee run, or to grab a lounger by the pool. 4) Ora Dress
Erin absolutely loves this white cotton dress that works as a chic coverup too. It’s a lightweight, easy-breezy dress that’s great for packing and can serve multiple functions on your trip. Are you noticing a versatility theme here?? It has lace panels throughout and the most gorgeous neckline and hemline. The sleeves will give you a little more coverage and the elastic at the waist offers some definition. We don’t have additional photos of this dress (Erin spent her trip with a little less time in front of the camera!), but the length is on the shorter side…great for petites but might be a bit too short if you are tall. Wear it over your suit during the day and out to dinner with some wedges or strappy sandals at night!
BONUS COVERUP
This Rails button-down looks familiar if you have been following along on the blog for a while. And yes, Erin loves wearing it as a coverup! She actually owns 2 and wears the larger size as a cover-up for a bit more bum coverage. The gauzy cotton is super lightweight, but you get that coverage from the sun when you need it. This Rails top has made its way into the suitcase for pretty much every trip Erin has taken. In the photo above, Erin’s wearing it to the pool during her trip to Africa. It’s perfect for spring/summer and a must-have for vacation. It washes like a dream and you’ll reach for it all.the.time. So, while this one isn’t new, it definitely deserves a place in this post because it is the OG coverup!
