BEST Swimsuit Coverups
I know many of us are eager for warmer weather and you know what that means…beach vacations and time spent by the pool or lake. There is always a focus on swimwear, but having a chic and stylish coverup for your next beach day is JUST as important as the swimsuit itself. I’ve tried a TON of coverups through the years, and in this post, I am excited to share my favorite and most glamorous brands.

Best Swimsuit Coverup Brands
Everyone has a preference when it comes to coverups. I look for coverups that I can throw on pretty effortlessly, that are lightweight and flowy, and provide some actual coverage and protection from the sun. I also tend to prefer something that doesn’t have to go over my head and that has fabric that dries quickly! These are a few of the brands I’ve tried and love. Keep scrolling to see how I styled some of my favorite swimsuit coverups…
I love Vitamin A swimsuits and coverups for their classic pieces with a twist. The coverup I’m wearing above is by Vitamin A and I love that it’s essentially a basic white button-down shirt dress…but the twist is the beautiful eyelet fabric! It’s 100% cotton so it dries very quickly and is super lightweight. It also opens in the front so you can throw it on easily. Leave it open to show off your swimsuit, or button it up for extra sun protection. You can also get the matching shorts if you like a 2-piece coverup situation.
Elan has the market cornered on glamorous beach-to-dinner cover-ups. Their maxi dresses bring on the drama but are very lightweight and function beautifully as cover-ups too. Most of my coverups are by Elan and you’ll see quite a few of them styled below.
Becca is another brand that’s just SO good in the swimwear department. I love their swimsuits, sarongs, and chic cover-ups. You really can’t go wrong with any Becca pieces! On of my favorite swimsuits I take on almost every vacation is by Becca. Make sure you check out this post with all of my favorite swimsuits next!
Robin Piccone is another swimwear brand that is ideal for women over 40. Their swimsuits are sexy but offer coverage which is a must for me!
Here’s another line that nails the fashion and function combo. They have the perfect mix of sexy, modern designs and go-to classics you’ll wear for years.
This brand has been super popular for its easy-breezy cover-ups and tops. They will effortlessly transition from pool or beach to lunch. Their pieces are slightly more casual than Elan’s. I bought one of their coverup tops a few years ago and have been able to wear it as a coverup, with denim shorts, and with jeans!
Ramy Brook’s pieces have gorgeous, standout details like beading and crochet that bring a little extra glamour to the party. You can easily go from the pool to lunch or even a casual dinner and feel elevated and sophisticated and appropriately covered. The price point is on the higher side, but when you consider the dual functionality, it’s worth the investment, and the pieces wash and wear beautifully so you’ll enjoy them for years.
I LOVE Bleu by Rod Beattie swimsuits. Again, sexy and modern…but still functional. For example, this white coverup has beautiful sheer fabric that makes the basic coverup a modern and sexy option.
For more luxe, “bring-on-the-glam” options, go with a Charo Ruiz Ibiza coverup or a Rococo Sand caftan. SO GOOD…just trust me! They have beautiful prints, intricate fabrics, and beautiful fits.
Now for some of my favorite coverups…
#1 | Ramy Brook Coverup
You might remember this coverup from our trip to Marrakesh, Morocco last year. It’s by Ramy Brook and has the most gorgeous beaded details on the sleeves. I also love the intricate eyelet and crochet fabric details. It opens in the front so you don’t have to hassle with pulling it over your head. The exact coverup is sold out but I linked a very similar option that’s just as beautiful and will give you that same dramatic feel!
#2 | Sundress Coverup
My favorite thing about this coverup is that it can be worn as a coverup OR a dress. Headed to the beach and then straight to lunch? No problem. This gorgeous eyelet coverup will transition perfectly! All you need is a cute pair of sandals and you’re ready to go. Right now, the pure white is sold out so I linked the white and gold option. Plus, it also comes in black!
This is another piece you can wear as a dress, as a coverup, or as a tunic top with a cute pair of denim shorts! I love the colors in this trapeze-style dress from Free People. It’s sold out, unfortunately, but this one and this one are very similar and will give you the same look.
This beautiful white coverup by Elan is perfect for the beach or pool. The crochet details are just lovely… and the tie front makes it convenient to slip on and off. It comes in black too. I also love that’s it’s longer so you get that added sun protection on your legs.
#5 | Black Elan Slipdress
The next coverup is a simple, shorter, flowy slip-dress by Elan. It has a fun strappy detail on the open back. And the sides have pockets you can slip your keys or phone into when you need to be hands-free! This is one of those easy coverup dresses you can throw on for any pool or beach days and still feel effortlessly chic and put together.
Free People makes several maxi dresses and jumpsuits that also work perfectly as coverups! I love the ruffled asymmetrical hem, ruching at the bust, and embroidery details on this white maxi. Throw it on over a swimsuit or wear it with sandals to dinner. And, talk about DRAMA… oh, I love me some drama (with my clothes, not in my life.) This exact maxi is sold out but this one looks similar and I love the plunging neckline! Again, Free People has so many maxi dresses, mini dresses, and jumpsuits that could double as coverups for your next beach vacation…talk about versatility (plus, it makes packing light much easier!).
#7 | Elan Halter Maxi
See what I mean about glam?? Elan nails it!! This maxi coverup has a halter neckline and an oversized billowy fit. I love how it flows in the breeze! It also has a low back that shows just the right amount of skin! This exact dress is sold out but this one and this one are very similar!
#8 | Black Pants
These pants are among my favorites as they are super comfortable and chic. I love the idea of cover-up pants that go from the beach to lunch when you need a bit more coverage. I’ve also worn these while traveling (just make sure whichever pants you choose are thick enough, so they aren’t see-through). Pair them with a coordinating bandeau bikini top for an incredibly elegant look. Or throw on a simple tank when you’re headed from the beach to lunch or just want some added coverage on your top half.
Surprise, surprise…another bathing suit coverup by Elan! Perhaps my all-time favorite swim cover-up… definitely winning my mental, “Most Chic” award…is this maxi dress coverup by Elan. I love it so much that I have it in two colors. It runs long, so if you are tall, it’ll be great. If you are petite like me, you can always wash in cold and lay flat to dry. It will shrink slightly in the wash. If you need the length, hand wash it!
This lace kimono-style cover-up is the one you grab when you don’t have time for anything fussy. You can simply put this on like a button-down shirt and leave it open or tie the front for more coverage. It is also made out of paper-thin cotton to keep you cool and dry. I am a big fan of easy-on, easy-off cover-ups. This comes in black too!
This coverup by 9seed is a great example of a maxi coverup you can dress up or down. I’m wearing it dressed up with sandals and a cute bag, but I’ve also worn it over a swimsuit. Maximum versatility with this one makes it perfect to pack for a beach vacation!
#12 | Deep V Caftan
Another one by Elan. I mean… talk about glamour! I love the gathering on the sleeves and the sexy slits in the skirt which show your legs as you walk and move. The waist has a drawstring so you can adjust it to fit how you’d like. And the sexy, deep v-neckline will allow a peep of your swimsuit to show.
