Black and White Outfit Ideas
#1) Black Midi Dress & White Jacket
The first black and white outfit idea is so simple…a classic black midi dress! Erin’s wearing a black midi dress by Reiss that has a super flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. The belt also helps cinch the waist for an even more flattering fit. This dress is a super lightweight cotton poplin, which is perfect for spring and summer but will easily transition to fall. Over the dress, she has on a white Cinq a Sept jacket that’s the perfect, elegant third layer! We love the elevated tweed fabric, luxe buttons, and flattering cropped length (perfect for petites!). Erin completed the look with white and black accessories but as with all of these looks, you can make any swaps you want to make it more weather-appropriate and true to your personal style!
#2) White Sweater & Sweatpants
Even when you’re lounging at home, running quick errands, or traveling, you want to look chic and elegant, right? Well, Erin found the most gorgeous, luxe, chic sweater and sweatpants set by Frank & Eileen that’s so soft, luxurious, and comfy. If all-white isn’t your style, it also comes in black and a few other colors! She styled it with wedges and a straw tote but it would look so good with sneakers for a day of travel or errands!
#3) Black & White Romper
Erin wore this cute romper to tour the Colosseum in Rome and felt oh-so-stylish but also stayed comfortable. It’s made of a lightweight, breathable terry cloth material that dries quickly and feels nice on the skin. We love that it has the look of a double-breasted blazer dress…so chic!

#4) Black & White Vest & Trousers
Another great black or white outfit is a monochrome look. In the two outfits above, Erin’s wearing the exact same vest and trousers in white (left) and black (right). Yes, these pieces are SO good, Erin bought them in both colors and even admitted to wanting another! The pants have an amazing fit, they’re super lightweight, and they come in different inseam lengths. The vest has a body-skimming fit that’s super flattering. Vest s are super on-trend so we highly recommend grabbing this vest if you want to give the trend a try!
#5) Black Midi Dress
If you weren’t a fan of the midi dress in outfit #1, we wanted to give you another option. Erin’s wearing a Staud dress that she loves so much she owns it in three other colors too! It has a super flattering A-line silhouette, a square neck, and thicker straps so you can wear a regular bra. Wear it with sneakers, flats, sandals, heels, or booties.

#6) White Pants & Black Top
Next up, Erin’s wearing a super flattering pair of white Reiss pants. They have a cool, slimming black stripe down the side that gives the pants a sporty feel and slims the legs. She paired the pants with a black Cult Gaia top that’s unexpected and chic. Remember, you don’t need these exact pieces to create an elegant black-and-white outfit. For fall, you could wear black pants and a white sweater, white pants and a black sweater, or combine any white and black pieces you have in your closet!
#7) Black Jumpsuit
When in doubt, it’s easiest to grab a one-and-done piece. In this look, Erin’s wearing a strapless jumpsuit by Spanx. This jumpsuit is such a gorgeous and versatile option! It’s in Spanx’s amazing AirEssentials fabric so it’s super lightweight and breathable. Erin loves the flattering wide-leg silhouette and fold-over design at the bust. She added extra waist definition by styling it with a belt, but it does have a hidden elastic waistband that helps cinch the waist. If it’s cooler where you live or you want some added coverage, throw on a black or white jacket for an effortlessly stylish look!

#8) White Lace Midi Dress & Skirt Set
Now we’re getting into some dressier options! Erin’s wearing a matching lace set (left) and a lace dress (right) both by Bronx & Banco. These pieces are a little trendier but still very elegant. To transition these to fall, add a white jacket and white sneakers or booties. The all-white monochrome look is so chic!
#9) White Mini Dress
How fun is this white mini dress by Cult Gaia?? We know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re looking to add some drama to your wardrobe or just want a special piece for your next trip or night out, this is a fabulous option! We LOVE the oversized sleeves, interesting fabric, and drawstring details. If you’re headed to a cocktail wedding, grab the green version of this dress!
#10) Black & White Polka Dot Midi Dress
This Dolce & Gabbana polka dot dress is another really special piece. Erin ordered it specifically for her trip to Italy and loved how it made her feel. It’s sexy but playful, feminine, trendy, and just absolutely stunning. We know this won’t necessarily be a piece you’ll add to your wardrobe, but it gives you inspiration to wear this black-and-white color combination!
#11) White Gown
When you have a gala or formal event, it’s easy to gravitate to darker colors to feel more comfortable and blend in. And that’s totally fine! A black dress can be uber chic for an event. But if you want to stand out (in a good way), a gown like this one by L’IDEE is such a showstopper! Everything from the long, flowy length to the beautifully pleated fabric to the sexy open back and plunge neckline…it’s perfection!
