Boyfriend Jeans Styled 5 Ways

There are so many different kinds of jeans:
Skinny jeans, mom jeans, flare jeans, boyfriend jeans, girlfriend jeans, bootcut jeans…and so on!

But today I want to focus on boyfriend jeans.
First…what are boyfriend jeans??
They are jeans that are supposed to look like you borrowed them from your boyfriend.
That means, baggier through the waist and legs.

I am petite, so I opt for slim boyfriend jeans. They are more fitted than traditional boyfriend jeans, but not as fitted as skinny jeans.

How to Wear Boyfriend Jeans

I like to contrast the baggy jeans, with something a little more tailored on top.
I also like to pair my boyfriend jeans with feminine pieces to offset the masculinity of the style.

See all FIVE ways I styled my boyfriend jeans below.

Boyfriend jeans by Current & Elliott, paired with a gray circle cardigan from nordstrom, a long sleeve black tee and the Paris loafers by Sam Edelman, on fashion blogger from colorado, Erin Busbee of busbeestyle

Look #1 | Cardigan & Tee

For the first look, I paired the jeans with a long sleeve, black tee and a circle cardigan.
I love this cardigan because it’s so cozy and soft…great for around the house!

I completed the look with some understated, and chic accessories like this black circle bag and chic slides.

Look #2 | Date Night

The next look is a date night look. Who says boyfriend jeans can’t be sexy?
Pair them with a really sexy top, like this one by C/MEO Collective, some sexy heels, like these studded sandals
And voila… you are ready to hit the town!

Look #3 | Cami, Blazer, and Pumps

This look can easily transition from day to night.
It’s a little more polished and sophisticated.
I paired the jeans with a black cami that has an interesting strap detail, and this Vince Camuto blazer.
The blazer is a great length which makes it quite versatile.
I finished off the look with some classic and gorgeous black pumps. Here is a pair I love for less.

Boyfriend jeans by Current & Elliott, paired with a white victorian sheer pleated blouse from anthropologie and rag & bone margot booties in beige suede with chloe sunglasses, on fashion blogger from colorado, Erin Busbee of busbeestyle

Look #4 | White Blouse

You can wear this look (above) on the weekends, during the day, and even into the evening.
I love how this white blouse from Anthropologie softens the inherently masculine boyfriend jeans.
The top is beautiful, and billowy… so it will easily mask a tummy.

I added these neutral colored booties by Rag & Bone to soften the look even more.

Boyfriend jeans by Current & Elliott, paired with a corset waist sweatshirt from nordstrom and Greats sneakers called royale, on fashion blogger from colorado, Erin Busbee of busbeestyle

Look #5 | Sweatshirt & Sneakers

A cool, casual look!
Wear this outfit while you’re running errands, picking up kids, going to a soccer game, etc.
This sweatshirt has a few standout details including cuffed sleeves, puff shoulders, and a corset waist.
I love how the corset detailing defines the waist. No more boxy sweatshirts!
I paired it with these white sneakers to create a fashionable and functional athleisure look.

  1. Hi! Did u do a piece on styling a t shirt dress? I’m struggling to locate it. I found something similar at Nordstrom in either long sleeve or sleeveless. Which one is more stylish and more versatile?

  2. Hi Erin I loved the piece on the boyfriend jeans I m 5 2 100 pounds I really want a pair but the current Elliott r to expensive I dont Want to Look to baggy I like the way yours fit any suggestions thank you love our channel n .com letter Darlene

  3. How in the world do you keep your boyfriend jeans up? I have to cinch mine with a very tight belt or I could actually wiggle out of them My girlfriend jeans aren’t much better. Again the belt!

    1. A belt will do the trick, or just look for slim boyfriend jeans. The pair I’m wearing are ‘slim’ so they actually stay up. But, occasionally you have to yank them, if you don’t wear a belt. 😉 Never a good look when you are hoisting all day… Erin xo
