I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day! We spent our weekend in south Texas… hunting, which obviously is the epitome of romance! Especially since I don’t hunt. But, I will say, the family had fun, and at least we spent time together.

Whether you are in south Texas or Telluride, Colorado (above) … Dressing during these transitory months can be tricky.

That’s because the day can start out chilly and end up warming up quite a bit. Dressing in layers is key!

I usually start with a cami. It’s a great base layer that also smooths the lines between your top and your bra.
Then I add a fitted tee for added warmth.

In this case (above), in Telluride, Colorado, I wore a chambray, button down shirt over my tee/cami combo.

Over the chambray shirt, I layered a v-neck, cashmere, black sweater (a must in every woman’s wardrobe).
Next, I added a Uniqlo army green puffer vest, purchased a while back for an Africa trip that never happened.
((We cancelled the trip after my husband broke his hip. See “Superman” to hear the back story.))
Finally I added a blanket scarf and a hat.
This blanket scarf is ridiculously affordable and super soft.
The hat is slouchy and soft.

So, as the day heats up, I can lose the hat, the scarf, the puffer vest, even the chambray shirt if needed.
I also had a larger, longer, black puffer in the car, in case it got even cooler.

The key with layering is picking tailored, thin pieces that can stand alone.
All of my pieces could easily be worn alone (except the cami.)

I hope that helps you better understand the art of layering. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you SO much for stopping by!
