In fact, celebrities and designers everywhere are showing us just how glamorous utilitarian pieces can be! Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim K, Gigi Hadid, and Oprah have all put their own casual spin on this fresh look…proving it transcends all age groups and style types! One easy way to test the waters? A one-and-done utility-inspired cargo jumpsuit! Sharing Erin’s recent find and an affordable look-a-like for $80.

Affordable Utility Jumpsuit

The utility jumpsuit Erin is wearing by Maje on the left is made of a silky fabrication, has a button front, ruched waist, and large side cargo pockets. Isn’t it chic? Our more affordable find from Anthropologie is SO cool! It has the same on-trend cargo pockets and a slightly more relaxed fit so it’s perfect for spring or summer. It also has a button front, wide leg, and 3/4 tab button sleeves. The tie waist will define your midsection and makes for an easy on/off situation (so important when considering a jumpsuit and your restroom breaks!) It also comes in Standard, Petite, and Tall lengths which is such a bonus!

This is not your Manny Moe and Jack manly jumpsuit! It’s pretty, a little edgy, and super fresh! We also found this option that will give you a similar look for under $100 since it’s on-sale right now. You can style this silky jumpsuit flat sandals or dress it up with a platform wedge jussst like Erin did!

Affordable Platform Wedges

The Marc Fisher platform sandals Erin paired with the jumpsuit are on the more affordable side, priced at $140, and come in 3 other colors. But we wanted to find a similar shoe at a really reasonable price point for those of you that aren’t sure about the platform sandal trend. Or for those that want to test the waters. These platform wedges from Anthropologie are a great option! A platform wedge will give you added height and elongate your leg.  These are made of jute and have a 4” heel but since the platform is 1.25 inches, your foot will only have a heel pitch of less than 3 inches. These are also fun, but sizing is limited. We just love the contrast between the more masculine cargo-inspired jumpsuit and the feminine woven heels!

Wearing The Cargo Trend

Where would you wear a utility jumpsuit? Depending on the fabrication and accessory choices you can dress it up for a special occasion like a graduation party or dinner. But you can also completely dress it down for a day of shopping, lunch with friends, site seeing, etc. Adding a cool pair of aviator sunglasses will give you that extra cool factor hands down! Think Top Gun meets Out of Africa.
