Denim Style #1 | Skinny Jeans
I’ve teamed up with Nordstrom (Yay!) to bring you some outfit ideas…
Featuring different styles of trendy (and sometimes tricky) denim.
I give you styling suggestions for each pair of jeans.
Keep scrolling to see the the following:
1) Skinny Jeans
2) Cropped, Flared Jeans
(sometimes called the “kick flare”)
Let’s get started with some classic and figure-flattering skinny jeans.

Skinny Jeans
There is a reason I talk about dark wash, skinny jeans ALL THE TIME.
They are chic, sophisticated, dressier than most denim, and most importantly…
SLIMMING!! And, elongating.
“I often pull out my skinny jeans when I wear flats…
Because they make your legs look longer and slimmer.
Rag & Bone Jeans
These dark wash skinny jeans are by Rag & Bone.
If you are a longtime reader or viewer of my YouTube channel,
you already know how much I love Rag & Bone.
And, here’s why:
1) SHAPE
The denim retains its shape.
Meaning you don’t have to wash it every time you wear it.
(Cause who has time or patience for that?)
2) FLATTERING
It is also incredibly figure flattering and really sucks everything in.
3) POCKET PLACEMENT
My other favorite aspect of their jeans are the back pockets.
Their pockets are small and placed high on your behind…
Which means it makes your booty look smaller and higher!

Sweatshirt
P.S. This sweatshirt by PST is SO soft, you can sleep in it!
I am in love…(ONLY $39!)
I finished off the look with some chic and comfortable tassel loafers and a vegan catch-all tote.

Pockets
And, this is a rarity…with the “Bedford” skinnies (pictured above)…the pockets in the front are sewn shut!
It’s a REALLY nice touch in terms of keeping you looking lean.
As pockets sometimes add unnecessary bulk.
Sizing
In general Rag & Bone runs SMALL.
I almost always size UP when I order their denim.
I typically order size 26.
One of the best things about Nordstrom…
If you order the jeans, and they don’t fit, you can always just return them.
The return policy is awesome!
Sometimes I order two sizes, and just send one back.

Denim Style #2 | Cropped, Flared Jeans/Pants
Now onto to our second style of trendy denim… the cropped, flared pants.
Sometimes called, “kickflares.”
The ones I’m wearing are velvet with all the same details as denim…so they look like jeans.
Cropped pants/jeans definitely fall into the ‘tricky’ category.
If you are tall then you don’t have to worry as much…
But, for us more vertically challenged ladies, cropped pants present an issue.
The hemline will shorten your legs.
For that reason, I always wear heels with cropped pants to give me a few extra inches..
Monochromatic Dressing
You will also notice that I wore dark colors from head to toe.
Wearing all one color, or monochromatic dressing will make you look taller and skinnier.
For more styling tricks to help you look slimmer, you can check out this post.
High Rise
Additionally, I look for cropped pants or jeans that are HIGH RISE.
This will give your legs some extra inches.
This pair of velvet cropped, flared pants by Rag & Bone come up to my belly button.
Here is another pair of cropped, flares on SALE.
Framing Your Shoes
The great thing about cropped pants, they will frame and show off a pair of fabulous shoes or booties.
You can really see the ‘U’ shape cutout on these cute booties.
I like the look of a shoe, sandal or bootie that hits just below the hemline.
You can also wear a mid-calf bootie to keep the line even longer.

Denim Style #3 | Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans are also quite tricky.
They add edginess to your look, but they can also appear quite baggy and masculine.
To offset that, I add REALLY feminine pieces.
In this case (above) I paired the Rag & Bone “Dre” jeans with a ruffle sweater by Topshop.
I also added feminine accessories; tassel earrings…and pumps.

“Dre” Jeans
You may remember these Dre jeans from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
I bought them this summer.
I like to wear them on weekends… and for casual outings with my kiddos.
There are several washes you can choose from here.
The “Dre” is also cuffed, but you can easily uncuff or double cuff
(in my case, I employed the double cuff).
See another styling option in this blog post here.
Volume Proportion
I also like to wear something a bit more fitted on top with the boyfriend jeans… to offset the volume of the jeans.
This knit isn’t body hugging, but it’s still body skimming.
I love how the ruffles form a slight V-shape, creating more of an hourglass shape.
Pumps
These pumps are some of my favorites!
I think they are chic and comfortable.
You can see them styled here and here.
They run large. Order 1/2 size down.

Affordable Sunglasses
Quick note about the sunglasses (above)…
I found several pairs of sunglasses at Nordstrom that I LOVE…for under $70!
They all look very high end. They are durable. And provide UV protection.
(See options below).
I LOSE so many pairs of sunglasses that I am on a self-imposed moratorium of designer sunglasses.
IF you are like me and lose them a lot, these are wonderful options that won’t break the bank.

Hi Erin, I adore Rag & Bone Dre jeans. So confortable and casual without forfeiting style. The sunglasses you are wearing in that particular outfitt? I couldn’t figure out which specific link to click on for them. Such a great pair! Thank you !
