So, we usually have those days where we need to get dressed for a full day of different activities and occasions. I have a few tips on how to transition a dress from day to date night. And it’s super simple!

#1 | Black Dress For Daytime
If you know you’re heading to date night straight from running errands, dropping kids off, or whatever you have going on…you have to plan your outfit accordingly. During the day, you want to be casual and comfortable. But you want to make sure you still look sexy for date night.
This black Susana Monaco dress is perfect for date night! It has a sexy deep v neck, it’s sleeveless, and has an asymmetrical hem (more photos below). But it’s a little too sexy for everyday outings. I shared more about this dress in my post on what to wear on a date night over 40. I threw on a chic denim jacket by Rotate for added coverage. This jacket has fun puff sleeves and cool distressing. The fit is amazing, and I love that it’s not just a basic denim jacket. To complete the look, I have on Golden Goose sneakers. #2 | Black Dress For Date Night
For date night, shed the jacket to show some skin and swap out the sneakers for fun sandals. The sandals I’m wearing are studded mules by Valentino. But you can wear strappy heels, closed-toe mules, or whatever your favorite date night shoes are! Since this dress has a deeper v neckline, I added a lace cami underneath so the girls aren’t out on display, but the lace peeking out is still very sexy.

Simple Tips for Transitioning from Day To Night
- Always Swap Your Shoes – You should wear your comfy shoes during the day and swap out for heels or sexy sandals to dress it up at night. Even if you’re wearing jeans and a tee with sneakers, throwing on heels instead will elevate the look.
- Updated Jewelry – Consider bringing some dressier jewelry in your bag to spice up your look. Throwing on some statement earrings can completely change an outfit! This is true for most accessories…
- Strategic Layers – If I wanted to, I could still wear that denim jacket during date night. Think about what jackets you can wear during the day that will transition into a sexy date night look. Moto jackets and blazers are some of my favorite day to night layers!
