Tops & Sweaters
I like to incorporate basics into my wardrobe that are versatile but still have a little bit of interest…which is what I call basics-with-a-twist! Most of these basics are just that…they have small details that set them apart. Whether that’s a twist detail, ribbing, lace, or interesting texture or neckline…they’re all great basics that you’ll wear for years. Some of our favorites from this year are the Farm Rio blouse and Rails star sweater for more specialty pieces. But if you need the most basic of basics, the lace trim cami, ribbed sweater tee, and twist-neck top are all great, versatile options that will seamlessly mix with other pieces you already have in your wardrobe.
Dresses & Bottoms
If you’re only going to buy one pair of jeans this year, we recommend these straight-leg jeans by Rag & Bone. They’re super high-quality, will go with all of your shoes, and they aren’t trendy. If you already have a classic pair of straight-leg jeans, consider adding some flare jeans or bootcut jeans instead. If you like to wear dresses, the two we selected are great, versatile options that can be dressed up or down with a few accessory swaps. Burgundy not your color? The midi dress also comes in black and rust.
Outerwear
Every woman needs a classic black blazer and this Open Edit blazer is SO good, super affordable, and comes in a few colors. It has a relaxed fit but it’s not too trendy. If you live somewhere pretty chilly, you might also need a chic wrap coat for fall. This camel wool-blend wrap coat comes in multiple colors, is very affordable, and is a wardrobe staple you’ll wear for years. For fall, we recommend having a high-quality pair of black booties, knee-high boots, dressy heels, and sneakers. Each of these shoes is either a pair I own or by a brand I love and trust!
