Without the basics, you will have a hard time to get dressed on a daily basis.
You need those foundation pieces to wear with all the color and prints.

White tees are pretty easy to come by. You can grab a package of 3 at your local grocery store!
But, the perfect white tee is another story.
If you are interested in fabrications… i.e. organic, high-quality cotton that will last…
I would strongly suggest investing in a tee by Eileen Fisher. (pictured above).
Her tees come in petite. They DO run quite large. I bought XXS. (normally small).
It is gorgeous cotton… I mean gorgeous!
And, I do not think you need anything underneath, which is wonderful.

If you are on a budget, I would scoop up this one my Madewell. (Size DOWN one size).
And, for those who want something a little different, you can look for design details like a twist in the front,

Skinny Jeans | White Sweater | Pumps

#2 | Skinny Jeans

Of all the jeans you own, there is one pair you turn to… over, and over and over again.
That’s because they are slimming, sophisticated, and they put a little extra spring in your step.
I’m talking about dark wash, skinny jeans!
If you do not already own a pair, this has to be at the TOP of your shopping list!

This pair by Rag & Bone is very flattering.
The leg runs long, so it’s perfect if you are bit taller.
If you are petite like me, you can let it bunch, or just have it tailored.
The pockets in the front are sewn shut, which is a great extra detail, alleviating any pocket bulk.

#3 | White Sweater

A white sweater is a must even in the south!
If you live in the south, you KNOW how cold it is in the restaurants…stores…
Well, pretty much everywhere you go… the AC is cranking.
I’m often colder in the summer because of all the AC.
That’s where a wonderful white sweater comes in.
You can sling it over your shoulders or throw it on with jeans, skirt… or over a dress.
It’s an incredibly versatile piece and a MUST regardless of where you live.

This white sweater, which also comes in petite, is by Eileen Fisher.
There is something to be said for AMAZING fabric. This one is made out of LINEN.
So…you stay cooler in the warmer weather.
It even feels cool when you put it on.

The price DOES reflects the wonderful fabric, though.

#4 | Black Pants

Another basic that we should all have is a pair of FLATTERING and modern black pants.
They should make feel confident and secure when you put them on.
These pants by Rag & Bone definitely do both!
See how the side seam cheats in along the leg?
That little detail basically shaves an inch off your leg, making them look slimmer.
They are also very high rise, which keeps muffin tops and loose skin hidden away.
The “Simone” pants are on the pricey side, so I gave you some lower priced options below.

You will wear your black pants everywhere from the office… to dinners and events.

#5 | Spring Booties

Booties are no longer reserved only for fall/winter.
There are so many spring-like options now.
The perforations make the booties more breathable.
Some are also peep-toe which also keeps your feet cool.
Additionally, I would look for spring-like shades, like blush, beige, or taupe.
These neutrals will integrate seamlessly in your spring wardrobe…
and look as wonderful with a skirt and dress as they do with jeans.

I really love how low they are so they keep your legs looking longer.
They are also incredibly well made and comfortable.
The side zips make getting them on a cinch.
