How to Wear a Denim Blazer
Did you ever find a piece you love so much, you want to figure out all the different ways to wear it?? That’s THIS denim blazer below. I love it SO much, and apparently so do many of you as it has quickly become one of our top sellers. But, sometimes with new, special pieces, you might not know how to style them. So, in this post we are sharing 3 simple outfit ideas with the denim blazer. Spoiler alert: it’s really simple…and boils down to styling it with basics. Huge thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Veronica Beard Denim Blazer
OKAY… the piece you didn’t know you needed, and now you can’t stop thinking about it… this gorgeous Veronica Beard denim blazer! I am showing you 3 different and simple ways to style it so you can see how versatile it is. The blazer is SO good because of the elevated details like the luxe gold buttons and structured, padded shoulders. The shoulders create width across the top, which in contrast with the tailored waist, creates the illusion of a smaller waist, and more of an hourglass shape. This is great for anyone with a boxier, rectangular shape like mine or someone who wants to accentuate their curves. The cotton blend fabric is thick enough to create structure, but is also quite breathable and lightweight for those that run hot.
Since this blazer is denim, you can style it multiple ways; casually for lunch or dress it up for work or dinner. It’s pricey so I’ve linked a similar option here. But when you think of cost per wear and that it’s a piece you’ll have for years, it’s worth the investment. It reminds me a lot of my Balmain blazer, but for a fraction of the price.
Keep scrolling to see how I styled this stunning blazer 3 ways…

Look #1) Denim Blazer with White Jeans
In this first look, I styled the blazer with one of my favorite basic white tees by ATM, a pair of cropped white jeans by L’Agence, and some neutral Sam Edelman pumps. Pairing the blazer with whites and light neutrals like this feels so fresh and springy. All the pieces in this look are basics that you probably already have in your closet. Ideal, right? The blazer takes the look up 10 notches and completely elevates what is otherwise your basic tee and jeans.
I completed the look with some cool Le Specs aviator sunglasses and my beautiful Bottega Veneta cassette bag that I’ve owned for a few years. You can wear this look to the office for casual Friday this spring and summer, to lunch with the girls, or to dinner with your partner. You can swap the accessories to make it more casual or dressier depending on the look you’re going for and where you’re headed. (Think wedge sandals vs. pumps for an even more casual approach.) All of these pieces run true to size.
This bag is a go-to every spring and summer! You can read my full, honest review of it here.

Look #2) Denim Blazer with Black Pants
This is an easy, chic desk-to-dinner look! I’m wearing the denim blazer with a pair of black Favorite Daughter wide-leg pants. These are the “Shortie” pants, but they also come in a regular length (linked below). Even the Shortie length is a little long on me (I’m 5’4”) so I have to wear heels. The wide-leg is SO flattering and I love that the pleating isn’t too overwhelming in the midsection.
Under the blazer, I’m wearing a black knit top by Open Edit. It’s thick and structured enough to wear without a bra if you are smaller-chested. If you need a bra, I would suggest strapless since the neckline is square and the straps on a regular bra would likely show. The top is cropped and body-skimming so tucking isn’t an issue- a must with pleated pants, so you don’t add bulk around the tummy.
I completed the look with a classic pair of black booties, a black belt, and cool Quay cat-eye sunglasses, but you could make accessory swaps to make it more or less work-appropriate. This is such a modern, unexpected office outfit idea that will easily transition to dinner. If you want to add more va-va-voom, take your blazer off when you get to dinner to show off the sexy square neckline of the top. All of these pieces run true to size.
Look #3) Denim Suit
The final look is the simplest…just wear the matching pants, and voila…you are wearing the most badass suit of the season! As I mentioned, I bought this set last fall and have worn it multiple times since then. I also love that I can wear the blazer and the pants separately to create tons of outfits. The pants are made of the same soft, yet structured fabric as the blazer, they have a cropped length (26” inseam), and the contrasting stitching against the super dark wash is really nice.
Underneath the blazer, I’m wearing a classic white button-down with an exaggerated collar, which adds a cool, modern touch I love. On my feet, I threw on brown platforms, but you could swap them for pumps, strappy heels, etc. I just love how unexpected a look like this would be for work, a conference, an event, or even dinner. Imagine wearing this denim suit to your next big presentation and feeling like a total boss!

I love ALL 3 looks!!! However, I am very busty anyways and always have trouble fitting things, but also gained weight this winter so am now really teetering on not fitting regular ladies dept and need to go to plus. I looked at the size charts, and having measured my bust chest around at 49” (currently bra size UK 38H), did not know if you have suggestions for denim blazers that would fit my current plus sized full figure?
So glad you love these looks, Christine! Here’s a few options for you to check out. ~Team Busbee
