Dolce Vita Loafers
Before we dive into how to wear loafers, I wanted to talk about the loafers you’ll see throughout the rest of this post. I scooped these Dolce Vita loafers up during this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have been reaching for them over and over again. They’re super lightweight and VERY comfortable. They add an unexpected, on-trend touch to any outfit and are just a really cool pair of flats. You can wear them to the office, running errands, to dinner, etc.
Sizing: They run a little big so I would order a half size down from your normal size so your heel doesn’t slip out when you walk.
Outfit #1) Blazer, Button-Down Shirt & Cropped Jeans
Cropped Jeans
If you are new to loafers, this outfit combo is probably the easiest to recreate – the go-to outfit formula for fall: blazer, top, and jeans. You could wear this on casual Fridays in the office or to dinner. In this outfit, I’m wearing a pair of Mother jeans that I own in multiple washes and love. The cropped, 27.5” inseam is perfect for showing off the loafers, I love the high-rise (11”), and the super dark wash is perfect for fall. These jeans are technically a dark blue but look almost black so they feel more elevated.

Blazer & Button-Down
On my upper half, I’m wearing a classic white button-down shirt by Frank & Eileen that’s one of those high-quality basics every woman should have in her closet. But this outfit combination has so many iterations that you could swap the button-down for a colorful or printed blouse, a pretty tank, t-shirt, or a cami if you want.
Then, I threw on my favorite Veronica Beard blazer to add polish and sophistication to the look. I’ve owned this blazer for years and love the versatility. It’s made of a lightweight scuba fabric that’s wrinkle-resistant and very comfortable. It’s also a dickey blazer so you can purchase dickeys that easily zip in and out.

Accessories
No outfit would be complete without accessories! To complete this look, I added a reversible Valentino belt that is on the pricier side…but when you consider cost per wear, it’s worth the investment to have a higher-quality basic like this that you’ll have for years. My jewelry is a gold Monica Vinader chain necklace with three pretty charms that add just the right amount of impact without overpowering the look. My oval sunglasses by Loewe add a unique touch to the look and feel very modern. But you can add big square frames or whatever feels like you. Finally, I wanted to add a bold burgundy lip. This lip combo is Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Savage Rose and Nars matte lipstick in Killer Queen.

Outfit #2) Blouse & Joggers
Another way to style your loafers is with a pair of joggers. I bought these AllSaints cargo pants recently and there are only a couple of sizes left, but I also wanted to share a similar pair by Cinq a Sept that I love and have had for a few years. Black joggers create an edgy, elegant and unexpected look and the cargo details are very on-trend at the moment. The length combined with the elastic cuff tapered leg makes these the perfect pants to pair with loafers. I paired the pants with a silky ivory blouse by Frame that’s so pretty. This is similar to a classic white button-down, but a little more elevated because of the fabric. Then, I completed the look with the same jewelry and oval sunglasses. You could wear this look to lunch, running errands, or even to the office depending on your work dress code!

Outfit #3) Sweater Tank & Wide-Leg Trousers
Trousers
If you’re looking for another office-appropriate loafers outfit, this one’s for you. I’m wearing a pair of black wide-leg trousers by Treasure & Bond that are a wardrobe basic…and only $75. Pleated trousers are another big trend right now, but I think that having a classic pair of black tailored trousers like this in your closet is a must! They have subtle pleated details that aren’t too much but if you’re worried about a tummy, these might not be for you. The 30” inseam works with the loafers for me (I’m 5’4”) but if you’re shorter and want to wear these with loafers, you’ll probably need to get them hemmed.

Sweater Tank
I styled them with a pretty white sweater tank I picked up during this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s one of those perfect fall transitional pieces you can wear on its own if you’re in a warmer climate or under a jacket for cooler days and nights. I love the feminine ruffle details at the shoulders and the higher neckline. I tucked it into the trousers for a streamlined look but you can also wear this tank untucked or half-tucked with jeans, pants, and skirts.

Outfit #4) Cardigan & Leather Pants
Leather Pants
If you really want to edge up your loafers, style them with faux leather or leather pants or jeans! These pants by Frame fit like a glove (in the best way) and are so flattering. The look of the leather adds edge but isn’t too over-the-top sexy. If you don’t like the leather look, opt for black jeans instead.

Cardigan
To add some softness and femininity, I styled the leather pants with a beautiful white Maje cardigan. I love all of the details including the black and white color combo, luxe gold buttons, flattering cropped length, and pretty collar. This is technically a cardigan, but I love the way it looks more like a jacket buttoned up. You could wear it like I am with the same sweater tank underneath or wear it open. You could even wear a pretty white cami underneath to make this a sexy date night look.

Outfit #5) Jumpsuit
The last way to style your loafers is with a jumpsuit! This Steve Madden jumpsuit has SO many flattering details… 1) The slanted short sleeves not only give arm coverage but minimize the arms too. 2) The spread collar and V-neck are flattering on all body shapes. 3) The tie waist hits right under the bust, which is traditionally one of the thinnest parts of a woman’s body. 4) The straight-leg silhouette is very slimming. AND, this jumpsuit is super affordable! I love it styled with the loafers but you can easily wear this with heels or booties this fall too.

Hi Erin ?? Yes, I bought two pairs of loafers last year. Black ? and brown ?
You always suggest very chick ways to wear each piece, so I tried them and I think it’s very convenient when I tell myself “don’t wear sneakers to feel comfortable, don’t wear hills, wear loafers , they’re the solution to be more stylish with flats “. ?❤️???
Thanks for your note, Paulina! I couldn’t agree more…loafers are such a stylish and comfy option and I’ve been wearing mine more than I thought I would! ~ Erin xo
