How To Wear Neutrals This Spring/Summer

Tips & Ways to Wear Fashionable Spring/Summer Neutrals

There are so many ways to incorporate neutrals into your wardrobe. My personal favorite is a head-to-toe look. But you can easily mix your neutrals with color.

One of the trends of the season is wearing flattering neutrals like white, cream, ivory, camel brown, taupe, etc… Of course, blues, browns, blacks, are all neutral tones too, but I want to focus on these lovely, lighter shades.

Head-To-Toe Neutral

In this head to toe neutral look, I’m wearing a gorgeous taupe matching set by LA Made. I talked about this look in my What I Wore To The rewardStyle Conference post. The top is long sleeve, cropped, and has a twist front. The skirt is super sexy, midi length and figure hugging. I threw on my favorite blush leather jacket by IRO.

I love this look because it shows off your shape, but the hemline and the sleeves give you coverage. I’ve talked about beige, taupe and all those beautiful creamy tones being a wonderful alternative to black, especially as we get older. These softer colors can be more flattering.

This top is sold out but I linked multiple options below.

Animal Print As A Neutral

Another surprisingly versatile and neutral option…animal print! It’s also a HUGE fashion trend! It can be tough to find a chic animal print, but the print on this skirt is just gorgeous!  The brown tones make this print different from the traditional leopard print pieces. The skirt is very comfortable, a great length (thank goodness for midi length), and super stylish!

Tucked into the skirt, I’m wearing this cropped, white AQUA tank. It’s the perfect layering piece. I love it! Wear it alone or under a chic jacket. I styled it in another spring look in this post. My Chloe Tess bag goes perfectly with the darker browns in the skirt. And I threw on some nude pumps for that barely there look. The key to wearing prints… keep everything else neutral.

Check out this post on how I styled animal prints for the spring. I also styled some subtle animal print pieces in this post.

Don’t Forget About White…

White is also VERY neutral, wearable and flattering on many skin tones. I love an all-white look. Try mixing textures and tones to enhance your all-white ensemble.

Other Tips For Wearing Neutrals:

* Mix tones – Mixing neutral tones is always an interesting option. Don’t feel relegated to perfectly matched shades.
* Mix textures – Mixing the textures will give your look depth and dimension.
* Accessorize – All of your accessories should complement the neutral colors and help add more interest and style to the look. I love to pair metallics and nudes with neutrals, but you can also go for a pop of color or the classic black and white combination.
