The sizing runs LARGE, so you should size down one full size.
It is very comparable to Loft (btw, up to 30% off tops & sweaters at Loft right now).
Also, my go to items at J.Crew are cotton, button-down shirts I wear all summer.
And the chino shorts in varying inseam lengths.
