Mob Wife Aesthetic Trend
The “mob wife” trend has recently blown up on TikTok and while the app typically has a new aesthetic trending every few months (clean girl, stealth wealth, cottagecore, etc.), we’re still excited to try this trend and celebrate what it represents… all things bold, over-the-top, and glamorous! During a recent Team Busbee call, each team member shared their current favorite style trend… and the “mob wife” trend was dropped more than once. We’re breaking down what the mob wife aesthetic is and a look Erin created to try it out…
What are your thoughts on the mob wife trend? Love it, hate it, want to at least try it? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this post!
What Is Mob Wife Aesthetic?
Think of the iconic outfits of the wives in your favorite mob shows and movies like Carmela Soprano, plaid by Edie Falco, from “The Sopranos” series on HBO or Karen Hill, played by Lorraine Bracco, from “Goodfellas.” They typically wear outfits that include things like faux fur, leather, leopard, red, heavy gold jewelry, heavy eyeliner, French manicures, red lipstick, and big hair. To make the mob wife trend more wearable, try incorporating one or two of these aspects into your look, rather than doing it all at once. Here’s how…
Mob Wife Outfit Idea
#1) Faux Fur Coat or Teddy Coat
One of the easiest and most important pieces you’ll need to create a mob wife outfit is a faux fur coat or teddy coat. And if it’s oversized? Even better! In this look, Erin is wearing an oversized teddy coat by Max Mara that dials up the glam and makes a statement. This is a higher-end coat but there are so many affordable options out there that will give you the same look. Erin’s also wearing a faux fur hat that adds even more of that mob wife aesthetic to the outfit and is perfect if you want to try this trend and live in a cold climate.

#2) Something Leather
Next, if you want to lean into the sexier side of the trend, add something leather. It can be a leather skirt, leather top, leather jeans or pants, leather knee-high boots, or whatever you prefer. In this look, Erin went with a pair of faux leather leggings by Spanx. If you’ve been a longtime subscriber, you’ve seen these leggings, and the many ways Erin has styled them…but this is probably one of our favorites! She styled them with an asymmetrical sweater by ASTR The Label that’s so chic, sexy, and warm. On her feet, she’s wearing a pair of Veronica Beard wedge booties that are also that on-trend patent leather that’s perfect for this mob wife look.

#3) Gold Jewelry
To pull the look together, Erin threw on a chunky gold necklace by Julie Vos. But you could wear any gold jewelry you already have in your closet. Some of the most popular mob wife pieces include hoop or large earrings, chunky necklaces, and lots of bracelets.
