Most Flattering Jeans
What’s the one, “can’t live without” staple in your wardrobe? For me, it would hands-down have to be jeans. I wear jeans at least 4-5 times a week. I love their versatility in that you can dress them up or down depending on the style, fit, and wash. But I also really appreciate how drastically different one pair can look from the next. And, no surprise here, I look forward to trying just about all of the jean trends. Straight leg, wide leg, distressed, embellished…every jean style is on-trend right now so you really can’t go wrong. The trick is finding the right pair for you that fits and flatters your body. Below I’m sharing 8 pairs of the most flattering jeans (and a cool bonus) that I’ve been living in lately. There are some classic favorites here along with some fun new styles to try.
Did you happen to catch this post about which shoes and booties to wear with which jean styles? It’s a great resource and guide that breaks it all down super simply for you!

1) L’Agence Ruth High Waist Raw Hem Jeans
I wanted to kick things off with a pair of favorites that have been a best-seller for a couple of years now. If you just need a very classic pair of jeans with no distressing that have a flattering fit, you’ll love these! The dark wash makes them feel more elevated, the straight-leg silhouette is classic and will work with just about any shoe, and the high-rise waist is super flattering. They have a 34” inseam which is quite long and perfect for taller ladies. But they also have a raw edge hem so if you’re on the petite side like me at 5’4”, you can cut them without having to have them hemmed. The size of the pockets and pocket placement on the bum also create a lifting effect!
I dressed them up with a pretty Farm Rio green top, some crystal embellished heels by Badgley Mischka, and a gorgeous (and super affordable) pair of crystal chandelier drop earrings that are the perfect amount of “extra” for this time of year. This would be a great holiday look and you’ll wear the jeans nonstop…just trust me!

2) Mother Huster Jeans
If you’ve been a subscriber for a while, this pair of jeans will likely come as no surprise to you. These Mother Hustler Ankle Fray jeans are my most worn jeans and I have them in multiple washes because the fit is just THAT good. These also have a high waist and frayed hem. These will work with everything from booties and heels to flats and sneakers. They do have some stretch to them which makes them super comfortable and the 27” ankle-length inseam is the perfect length for me. These are definitely one of my top 3 most worn jeans and they are always a top-seller here on Busbee Style.
On the left, I styled them with a pretty neutral-tone Fair Isle sweater and some of my favorite Schutz pointed-toe booties. On the right, I’m wearing a darker wash pair with a tunic-length Free People sweater that is super cozy and some fabulous Veronica Beard pointed-toe boots in burgundy.
3) AG Farrah Jeans
Here is another classic pair of dark wash jeans that are SO slimming and make my legs look super long. These AG Farrah jeans have just the slightest boot cut (nothing too crazy) which creates a long lean line. The tonal stitching adds to the classic look and the slimming effect. These have a 32” inseam which is about as long as I can go if I wear them with a heel. Similar to the L’Agence jeans in #1, this is a pair that is easy to dress up…even more so because there is no fading or whiskering.
I styled them with the coolest faux leather, sherpa-lined moto jacket from Generation Love and some sock booties by Michael Kors that have a 3″ heel.

4) Citizens of Humanity Lilah Jeans
Yet another pair of high-rise jeans…are you noticing a trend here? These black Citizens of Humanity jeans have a slight bootcut silhouette. They have black tonal stitching and hardware which keeps the line of the jeans long and lean. These also have a bit of stretch to them but retain their shape really well. Since they have a 30” inseam I can easily wear them with pretty much any shoe including flats and sneakers.
I styled the jeans with a fun, chunky Steve Madden sweater that is somewhat cropped but hits at the perfect spot with the jeans and creates a cinched-in waist. On my feet, I’m wearing some comfy sock booties by Stuart Weitzman.
5) Good American Mini Bootcut Jeans
I wanted to share a lighter wash jean that I’ve been keeping in rotation. I love a lighter-tone look in the fall and winter months because it’s a little unexpected. I’m wearing a pair of Good American jeans with some slight distressing at the knee which edges up the look a bit. Good American is another great jean brand that has affordable options. Their denim has some stretch and it kind of magically conforms to your shape without feeling tight. They are also size inclusive ranging from 0-26. The exact pair I’m wearing are no longer available but I’ll link a very similar pair.
With the jeans, I’m wearing a subtly sexy cutout sweater by ASTR The Label. It has a flattering twisted V-neckline and a small cutout just below the bust. This sweater will look great with any of the high-waisted jeans I’ve mentioned so far. The mesh pumps by Reiss are favorites from the NSale and unfortunately no longer available, but I’ll link something similar below.
6) Banans Republic Loose Jeans
Keeping with the lighter wash theme, these straight-leg jeans from Banana Republic are a pair I keep reaching for! These are also a more affordable option at around $100. They have a looser, straight-leg fit and are baggy without being too baggy to where you’d need to size down. But if you want a less slouchy fit you could size down one size. I’m wearing my usual size 26. I’m wearing the Regular length, but they also come in Petite! Because of the cut, these jeans can be worn more casually with sneakers or a little more dressed up like I’m wearing them above.
I styled the jeans with a Banana Republic wool-blend blazer and a tonal silk shirt. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of classic black pumps. This would be a great casual Friday look for the office!
7) Wide Leg Mother Jeans
If you feel like you want to try a wider-leg style, I highly recommend these Mother Huster Roller wide-leg jeans. I have several pairs in different washes and love the slimming and flattering fit. They’re the perfect wide leg and work beautifully with boots or booties (again, I’m 5’4″). But you could wear them with a pair of sneakers if you’re taller or want to get them hemmed. These jeans are so good they’re sold out almost everywhere so if you see your size, grab them!
I styled the jeans with a cropped Free People cable knit sweater that’s the perfect length with high-waisted jeans, a chocolate brown faux fur jacket by Frame, and some brown pointed-toe booties to keep the line long and lean.
8) Mother Skinny Jeans
I know some of you are still rocking your skinny jeans, so I wanted to show you a look where they can still be a great staple to have in your wardrobe. Here I’m wearing a pair of Mother high-waisted skinny jeans under some tall Schutz boots. You can tuck some baggier jeans or joggers into tall boots, but skinnies are always a safe bet and a cool classic look. I love the darker wash, the slight fading and whiskering, the awesome stretch, and the inseam. These have just under a 30” inseam so there’s not a lot of bulk to tuck into the boots.
The dark chocolate boots are by Schutz and pretty darn comfy for heels. I now have 4 pairs because they are SO good. Anyone else like to buy multiples when you find something you really love? I’m also wearing a Brochu Walker sweater and carrying a luxe-looking Madewell tote…that has a more affordable price tag!
BONUS – Veronica Beard Kimra Denim Pants
I didn’t forget that I promised you a *BONUS* pair of jeans. So, this last pair of Veronica Beard denim is actually a pair of pants and not really a pair of jeans. But I’ve been wearing them on repeat and having so much fun styling them, so I just had to share them in this post. Veronica Beard pants and jeans typically have a longer inseam which is great for taller women, but often too long for me. When I saw these cropped denim pants, I was super excited to try them and I’m so glad I did. They have a 26” inseam, a straight-leg silhouette, super flattering seaming down the front, and flap pockets with pretty gold hardware on the back. I can’t even tell you how amazing these are. They have a more elevated look to them, and you’ll reach for them more than you think!
With the jeans, I’m wearing a Line & Dot cable knit sweater vest and some brown booties. It’s pretty chilly here in Telluride now so I’d wear a moto jacket or blazer over the sweater vest…and probably another layer over that as well.
