Stirrup Style Pants
I love it when fashion and function collide. And with the new stirrup pants trend, that’s exactly what’s happening! Stirrup-style pants were traditionally used solely for function…to keep your pants tucked into boots during physical activities like horseback riding, skiing, for ballet, etc. They were super popular during the 80s…anyone else remember that? But now, stirrup pants are taking a fashionable twist. The 80s-inspired trend is becoming more and more popular, being worn with heels, mules, loafers, and flats. It might feel weird at first…but this new trend is everywhere, and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing it more and more through the winter and into spring! I’m sharing an easy way to style your stirrup pants and a few of my favorites…
How To Wear Stirrup Pants
Since this is a relatively new trend, the way you style them is pretty open to interpretation. I’ve seen celebrities and fashionistas style them with heels, loafers and booties. But whether they wear the stirrups on the outside or inside of the shoe is what varies. I personally love the way they look worn on the outside of the shoe because it’s so fashion-forward. There are also lots of options for stirrup leggings, tights, and jeans. Keep scrolling to see how I styled stirrup pants…
Tip: If you’re not ready to jump into the trend quite yet or don’t want to buy a pair of stirrup pants, you can always buy stirrup clips to try out with your favorite trousers!

Elisabetta Franchi Stirrup Pants
Instead of going for a pair of leggings or tights that were super fitted, I decided to try out the trend with a more traditional fitting trouser that has the stirrup trend incorporated. This pair of Elisabetta Franchi pants is SO chic. I love the seams down the front, the v-shaped hemline, and super high waist…all making them very flattering too! The stirrups are elevated more than other stirrup pants I’ve seen because they have small gold buttons buttons on the sides that add an extra style element I love. I picked these up in Madrid but can’t find a place to link them anywhere online. They do have them in red here. But I’m also linking very similar options below.

The Look
I took a note from Victoria Beckham and wore my stirrups on the outside of my heels. These heels are so comfortable, chic, and have a fun-shaped heel that makes them more unique. The exact pair is sold out but I linked a similar pair that’s even better because they have a more manageable heel and they come in four other colors too. You can also just wear a pair of classic black pointed-toe pumps that you already have in your closet!
On my upper half, I’m wearing a cropped cami but if you’d rather not show your midriff, wear a long white cami or blouse. Over that, I’m wearing a black boyfriend blazer from Mango. I love the oversized fit and if you already have a tailored black blazer, this is a fun addition to your wardrobe! My multi-strand pearl necklace is a special piece I picked up the last time I was in NYC. I took Elizabeth to the Chanel store for the first time and it was a very exciting, special experience and memory we got to make together! I linked another gorgeous necklace option above though.

This is going to be BIG TREND (MY OPINION). It’s a logical next step from the tired athleisure wear look. Italist has this pair on sale and the others., including the red is gone. Great site too!
Agreed, Debra! Excited about this trend…Thanks for sharing! ~Team Busbee

Great suggestion, Jane! I’ll do some digging. ~Erin xo
