City Chic With Melissa Meyers
It’s the time of year to start incorporating textures, unexpected prints and beautiful layers as we head into the fall. And while I call LA home now (I am a native New Yorker), I still get inspired by outfits that can easily transition with the seasons and take me from day to night while looking chic on both coasts. Bright colors are so on trend. It’s a great time to incorporate them into your wardrobe for an updated look.
A Pop Of Color
This edgy classic style is leveled-up when adding a gorgeous bright green blazer. It can be mixed and matched with so many pieces and is the perfect item to freshen up any wardrobe. The color even highlights the tint in these cool-girl retro specs. I love the look of a silky, vintage style button-up blouse and the gold-button detail is perfection. I like to style it with chunky gold jewelry as an ode to YK2 fashion.
Pro Tip: Leave one side of the shirt hem untucked for an effortless and modern feel. AND to showcase your waistline at the perfect spot.
A pair of high-waisted black pants that flare at the bottom are a staple in any New Yorkers wardrobe. These should always be well-fitted and hemmed ¼ inch from the floor, worn with a heel. The unexpected split pant leg is perfect to showcase these fresh white V-cut mules with a pointy toe. Yes, you definitely can wear white after Labor Day in NY although I still find that black is usually the color of choice for the NYC girl. And in LA, white is always a good idea. Mules are an excellent fall choice…more contained than a sandal but not as warm as a heel or a boot. Finally, a classic handbag (this one is Prada) goes with any fall ensemble. Black always grounds an outfit in a decidedly New York way.
