Outdoor Activewear Outfits
Before we dive into outfits, let’s kick things off with a few tips for what to look for in your outdoor activewear. Fabric and fit DO matter depending on your level of activity.
- Fabric – Look for breathable, moisture-wicking, durable fabrics that allow for ease of movement! Thin materials that snag easily aren’t going to work in an outdoor environment. For water activities, look for activewear with both water repellency and insulation.
- Layering – It’s SO key. As you move throughout your day, outdoor temps and your own personal body temp will rise and drop. Removeable layers allow you to never get too hot or too cold. And, you’ll have protection in case it rains.
- Details Matter – Look for pieces that have easy-access pockets for gear, small essentials, and your phone. Other cool details like skirts with built-in shorts underneath, zippers instead of buttons, and pieces with built-in SPF protection are great considerations.
Rafting, Boating, Fishing Outfit
In this first look, Erin and her daughter Elizabeth are all geared up for day of rafting, boating, and fishing on the Salmon River in Idaho. Erin is wearing a thin, long-sleeved base layer over her swimsuit for sun protection and to put at least a thin layer between her and the super cold water. It has minimal seams for reducing chaffing and a slim fit which is ideal for any water sport. The fabric is quick-dry and includes elastane which improves stretch and shape retention.
On her lower half, Erin has on a high-rise pleated skirt with built-in shorts that have pockets. It’s made from a lightweight, sweat-wicking, four-way stretch fabric to keep her cool. Erin and Elizabeth, (talk about a mini-me!) are wearing water shoes by Keen that have an open back, drawstring tie, a rubber sole, and grippy treads. She also threw on a designer Balmain hat for sun protection and a splash of style (we wouldn’t expect anything less!)

Hiking, Running, Biking Outfit
Next up, we wanted to share this super cute Free People runsie. This all-in-one romper would be perfect for running, hiking, biking, and plenty of other outdoor activities. It has a slim-fitting top with good compression but if you need more support, you could always layer a sports bra underneath. It has a strappy back, a cool cutout in the front, a back zipper pocket, and airy rounded hem shorts. It’s super lightweight and comes in 22 (yes!) other colors. Erin’s also wearing a North Face sling backpack, Saloman hiking shoes, aviator sunglasses, and the same Balmain hat from the previous look.
TIP: You can absolutely wear leggings when hiking as well but you’ll want to leave your cotton leggings at home. Cotton isn’t quick-drying and doesn’t provide good temperature regulation.
Camping Outfit
Since Erin and her family took time to really check out and unplug while on their epic rafting trip, we don’t have a lot of photos to share. But, we wanted to provide some outfit inspo for other outdoor activities you might need cute outfits for…like camping!
There are a ton of different activities you can do while camping, but we wanted to show you a cool look with a few different pieces for easy layering. It’s nice to have long pants/long sleeves to protect your skin from the sun, dirt, scrapes, or bug bites. The cargo joggers from Spanx are sweat-wicking, have built-in 50+ UPF sun protection, and have lots of handy pockets. They also come in Regular, Petite, and Tall lengths so you can get a perfect fit. The matching tank is made from the same fabric and has a flattering rounded hem. We finished the look with a lightweight hoodie, brimmed hat with SPF, cool aviator sunglasses, and cushioned, adjustable, grippy walking sandals by Ugg.
Tennis & Pickleball Outfit
Racquet sports have really gained in popularity, especially pickleball. So, we wanted to share a chic on-the-court look too. This performance dress from Vuori has a built-in shorts liner, phone pocket, and is made from a lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric. We paired it with a fun pink visor, the BEST athletic socks, and some cotton-terry sweatbands. Just add your racquet of choice and you’re off! Whether you play well or not, at least you’ll look like you’ve got it going on!
Nature Walk & Workout Outfit
Our last look is a cropped tank and leggings combo from Beyond Yoga. Erin loves this brand, especially their Spacedye fabric because it’s supportive, super soft, stretchy, and moisture-wicking. Plus, they make really chic styles. If you’re headed out for a nature walk, grab a third layer, some sunglasses, comfy waterproof walking shoes, a hat, and a waterproof sling bag or backpack. But, as we promised, for you ladies who prefer an indoor workout, just ditch the extras. You won’t believe how comfy this workout set is, and you’ll be happy to lounge around in it way after your workout is over!
