The Short List
Let’s start off office week with my favorite…the basics! I talk about how your wardrobe basics are very important. And most of these office basics overlap with that list. But I wanted to make it easier on you by giving you a short and simple list. Find the must-haves and my picks for each category below.
Black Blazers
I can’t talk enough about how much I love blazers. Give me a blazer and some jeans and I’m a happy girl! My favorite blazer is the black Veronica Beard Scuba Jacket. It’s an investment piece. But if you work in an office, it might be worth it. If not, I linked more affordable options below!

White Blazers
If you have the basic black blazer covered, add a white blazer for spring! If not white, get one in pink, or lavender. A light colored blazer for spring is something different and fresh for the office.

Black Trousers
There are so many styles of black trousers…classic, tapered, flared, cropped, bucket waist…the list goes on and on! I’m doing a video on 3 ways to wear black trousers this week. You can find all of my videos posted on this page. Even though these cropped pants aren’t necessarily the perfect basic (regular length will be more versatile), this video is a good one to watch if you do decide to get some cropped pants for the office!
White Button Down
Even if you don’t work in an office, a white button-down is a must-have. I’ve done a Fundamentals of the White Button Down post here. And a video on styling a white button down here. Below, I’ve shared a few classic white button downs.
Don’t forget about what you’ll wear underneath your work shirts. I like Jockey’s camis and tanks. They’re soft, comfortable, and don’t rise up.
Conservative Black Dress
The conservative little black dress is not as fun, but just as important! I did a video on how to transform your LBD that you can find here. Your LBD for the office should be a conservative length, have some sort of sleeve, and not be too tight. I’ve included appropriate LBDs for the office below.
Comfortable Black Pumps
It can be hard to find comfortable heels for the office. After trying multiple pairs of black pumps, my favorites are the black Jimmy Choo Romy Pointed Toe Pumps. Since they are pretty pricey, I’ve included more options.
Comfortable Flats
If you don’t like to wear heels to the office, comfortable flats are also a stylish option. The most versatile option would be black or nude, but some two-toned or colored flats would be fun to add for spring.
