There are several different types of cropped jeans, just like with regular jeans.
Skinny all the way through the leg, straight leg, fit and flare, boyfriend and gauchos/culottes (wide leg). 

What Shoes Do You Wear With Cropped Jeans?

If you want to look taller, wear a tall bootie, in a darker color. 
A strappy wedge, heel or pair of pumps will also add height.
If you are already tall, try a pair of slip on or street sneakers…
A pair of pointed toe flats or loafers. 

What Cropped Jeans Should I Buy?

I think with heels, any height and age can wear these jeans.
Different body types will definitely look better in different silhouettes.
If you are curvy, you should try fit and flared.
If you are athletic or petite, you should try the skinny crops.
If your ankles are not your best asset, try a pair that is cropped to just below the knee.

I’m Over 40, Can I Wear These Jeans?

Yes! I think all ages can wear these if you style them appropriately (think sophisticated)
