15 Summer Night Out Outfits
What’s the weather like where you live? Is it warm during the day but cooler at night? Or maybe you live somewhere like Texas or Florida where it’s hot all day and night. Whatever your location, you probably need some summer night out outfits. And they need to work for whatever kind of summer nights you have planned. Whether it’s a girl’s night out, date night, or just a casual get-together with friends, we’re sharing a roundup of outfits that will work for your next summer night out. These summer night outfits range from casual to dressy, sexy to conservative, and everything in between. AND you’re sure to find something that will work for whatever climate you live in too…
Printed Midi Dress
The simplest summer night out outfit is…a gorgeous printed dress! This dress by Farm Rio has such a beautiful, fun vibrant print that just screams summer. It has a flattering empire waist that hits at the slimmest part of most women’s bodies. And the adjustable tie shoulder straps are a big plus. It’s also smocked in the back, so you have some room and it’s very comfortable. The fabric is 100% cotton so it’s lightweight and breathable, perfect if you live in a hotter climate. We live in Colorado so I recently wore this dress to dinner with a white blazer over it since it’s a little cooler here. This is one of those pieces you can dress up or down depending on what you’re doing.
Printed Blouse & Shorts
If you’re looking for something a little more casual, you can never go wrong with a printed blouse and shorts. You could wear this to a casual dinner, a backyard BBQ with friends, or even GNO with some accessory upgrades. I’m wearing a pretty printed top by Free People…I love this print because it’s not too loud or big. I styled it with a pair of white shorts by Veronica Beard. They have a 10.5” rise, 3.5” inseam, a tie waist, and raw hem. Note: I had them hemmed to remove the raw hem for a more streamlined look. Wear this look with some cute flat sandals for a casual summer night or dress it up with wedges for dinner.

Printed Top & White Shorts
I wanted to give you another option with these shorts, so I styled them with a beautiful Alice + Olivia top too. I love the feminine sheer puff sleeves and unique, fun fruit pattern. It’s 100% silk so it’s super soft and feels so luxe. You could wear this to dinner or swap the shorts for jeans on date night! You’ll see these shorts again in a more casual look below…
Matching Shorts Set
Next up is a more elevated option for those dressy summer dinner dates when you want to look sophisticated but you don’t want to be too hot. Enter…the matching shorts set! This shorts set by Bronx & Banco is SO chic and cool. The shorts are a beautiful neutral beige, perfect for summer. But the coolest part about these shorts is that they have the double B Bronx & Banco logo that adds the right amount of pop to the look. They’re super high-rise and pass the fingertip test. I paired them with the matching blazer that has oversized puff shoulders, which I love! But if that’s not your style you could wear these with a different beige blazer…they don’t have to match perfectly. Under the blazer, I’m wearing a white cami by Generation Love that has a cool chain detail around the neck that makes it one of those basics-with-a-twist I’m always talking about. I completed the look with some gold jewelry, a raffia clutch, and some raffia platform heels.

Cutout Midi Dress
Next up is a casual but sexy option for summer date nights. This cutout shirtdress by A.L.C. is a bit of a wildcard but I love it! It has a sexy v-neckline that’s very flattering, the sexy cutouts on the sides, but a longer midi hemline and elbow-length sleeves to contrast the amount of skin you’re showing on top. In this look, I styled it with some See by Chloe wedges but you could also dress it down with flat or block heel sandals.

Cutout Mini Dress
If you like the look of the shirtdress but want to show a little less midriff, this cutout dress is for you! And if you love your legs, this dress is really for you! This denim mini is by Cinq á Sept and has very small cutouts on the sides and back. The short puff sleeves and crew neckline contrast the amount of skin you’re showing on your sides, back, and legs. I’m wearing it with wedges, which would be perfect for a summer date night but you could wear it with white sneakers for a summer BBQ or strappy heels for a GNO. It’s SO cute!

Cropped Blazer & Jeans
Another simple summer night out outfit is an all-white look and a splash of color! In this outfit, I’m wearing the same white Generation Love tank with the cool crystal chain detail at the flattering v-neckline. I paired it with my favorite white jeans by Mother that really are the best white jeans I’ve found in a loooong time. I threw on some wedges to dress up the look. You could wear just the tank and jeans for a summer date night but if you like to wear color, throw a fun blazer over the look like this one by Alice + Olivia. This cobalt blue color is so pretty on so many skin shades, the cropped length is great for petites, and it’s an open-front style blazer that gives a more casual feel (perfect for summer).
If you love this blue blazer, make sure you check out this post with another way to wear it…hint: think monochrome outfits!

White Button Down & Jeans
A classic outfit that you really can’t go wrong with…no matter what season it is…a white button-down, jeans, and heels! I’m wearing a white Frank & Eileen button-down that’s so soft, comfortable, and lightweight. It’s so high-quality I can tell I’ll wear it for years and years. I paired it with some Frank & Eileen jeans that are the perfect high-rise, straight-leg fit! Plus, the medium wash is super versatile for spring/summer and fall winter. I completed the look with a pair of cute beige mules by Vince that have a manageable heel. They’re very easy to walk in but you could also wear flats, sneakers, wedges, or strappy heels.
Casual Top & Shorts
This look is similar to the look I shared earlier in the post with the white Veronica Beard shorts but a little more casual…perfect for summer nights in or out! This top by Aqua has a fun and flattering striped pattern I love for summer. The blue is so pretty, but I’m thinking I might need the green version too! I love the flattering v-neckline, subtle puff shoulders, and that it’s body-skimming (not fitted). It’s a great top for hiding a tummy too.
Tank Dress
For something that’s casual but also a little sexy, go with a fitted tank dress like this one by Michael Stars. I love wearing dresses during the summer because of how easy they are to just throw on and be out the door in seconds. I’ve owned this tank dress for years and still grab it during the summer for those casual dinners out.
Sexy Black Dress
If you’re looking for something extra special, this Norma Kamali dress is for you. It’s super sexy, has flattering ruching in the midsection, an asymmetrical hemline, and a beautiful portrait neckline. If you have a large bust, this might not be the dress for you, but if you have a small to medium bust, it’s a great, affordable special occasion dress. I styled it with platform heels but you could wear pumps, slingbacks, or whatever sleek heels you have in your closet.
Black Cutout Dress
The next summer night out outfit is this one-shoulder midi dress by Moon River. It’s sexy, simple, and chic. I love the one puff shoulder and small cutout that’s strategically placed for that flattering effect. Since it’s a one-shoulder, you have to consider the bra situation, but you could wear a strapless bra or nippies. I styled it with the same platforms but you could easily wear more casual sandals if you wanted to dress this down for your night out.
Fitted One-Shoulder Dress
For an extra special event or even a summer wedding, this chic black and white dress by Zhivago is perfect! I wore this out to dinner with Chris on a recent trip to Europe and felt so sexy, confident, and powerful because I just love the way it fits and how the contrasting black and white accentuates my curves. I styled it with some black and white slingbacks but you could wear classic black or white pumps too.
Printed Top & Denim Skirt
You may remember this look from my recent travel capsule here. I’m wearing a blouse by Farm Rio, which is a brand I’ve really started to love this summer. They make vibrant, beautiful prints in amazing high-quality fabrics… and the fits are amazing. This blouse is bold and beautiful, feels very summery and tropical, but is also very wearable. The neckline and sleeves are very flattering and forgiving. It’s also 100% cotton and very lightweight so even though it has long sleeves, it’s very breathable. I’m wearing it with a cute little denim mini skirt by Agolde. I didn’t think I would love this skirt as much as I do! It’s more comfortable than denim shorts, it has a cool pointed hemline, and I love the fit. I did size up one size and it fits perfectly. You can wear this skirt with pretty much anything for a summer night out. To dress it up, I’m wearing some cute wedges but you could wear flats, sneakers, strappy heels, etc. too.
Black Jumpsuit
This is one of those pieces that will easily transition from day to night and feels a little dressier but still pretty casual. This black Evereve jumpsuit is something you could wear to a dressier dinner. It’s SO good. The top fits snugly so you will feel very secure, and you don’t have to do any yanking or pulling. You tie it at the back and you’re good to go…you don’t even have to wear a bra! The fabric is ruched and thick enough at the top, so you feel very covered up. But it’s still very soft on the skin, lightweight, and breathable. Plus, it’s very wrinkle-resistant. The bodice is fitted, which is a great contrast to the flowy bottoms. The best part about this jumpsuit is the hemline…because it’s a little shorter, I can wear it with sneakers during the day and swap my shoes with the wedges for a dressy, sexier look at night.
