What is Vegan Leather?
More and more people are talking about Vegan leather. And, you may be wondering… what is it, exactly? Even though they may sound different, Vegan leather and faux leather are the exact same thing. Vegan leather bags, shoes and accessories are often made from materials that look as luxe as the real deal. There are generally two types of Vegan leather: Polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PU is supposed to be a bit better for the environment because it’s biodegradable.
Why Vegan?
Vegan leather is more affordable, which is awesome. We all love saving money, but perhaps the more exciting reason to start looking for Vegan leather… it’s a substitute for animal leather. Real leather is produced using animal rawhides and skins. PETA (The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), estimates that billions of animals are killed every year for textile manufacturing, Basically, you are saving animals! It’s also supposed to be slightly better or the environment. The polyurethane or PU is biodegradable. Although, PU’s environmental impact is somewhat controversial.

Flats
Comfortable and cute flats are really hard to come by. You may recall my video about flat shoes here. The comments under that video are an awesome additional resource if you are on the flat shoe hunt. Anyway, I’ve been a long-time fan of Sole Society’s shoes and their flats in particular. These slides are no exception. They are super chic and on trend. I wore them all over Telluride the other day with the kids, and my feet were happy!
SLIDES | BAG | CAP | DRESS | SIMILAR BLOUSE | SUNGLASSES
I paired the chic slides with a black dress, over a black bow blouse. This is a great option for transitioning your summer dresses into the fall season.
I finished off the look with this chic black Vegan handbag and super cute Fisherman cap. The cap reminds me of one I used to wear all the time my mid-20’s. Don’t you love that? When a style brings back memories??

HI Erin,
Omg that cute black dress on you in amazing. I love those shoes. The purse was very pretty. I guess I will keep the leather purses I own, but I have faux leather too, and they look pretty decent. Kent bought me a real leather purse in a beautiful cognac color Years ago when we worked at a spa that sold merchandize in the lobby. It was made in france. I do not buy tons of purses these days, because i have so little space in this little cottage house. I love these posts. Thanks flr all your hard work and have a great holiday weekend.
Sounds like you have some sentimental and gorgeous treasures! Keep them! And you are so right about space. Ugh. My biggest issue… Erin xo
