Spring / Summer Wardrobe Basics Checklist: White Tops for Spring

Update Your White Tops This Spring

Now that we’re stepping into spring, it’s time to think about updating those wardrobe basics. If you’re unfamiliar with my Wardrobe Basics Checklists, you can get them by subscribing to my newsletter here. After you subscribe, you’ll get one list for Spring/Summer Basics and one for Fall/Winter.

Today, I’m focusing on a section in the Spring/Summer checklist…white tops! I like to refresh my white tops every season to make sure they look crisp and nice. See which ones I’m loving below…

#1 | White Button Downs

A white button is one of my favorite basics! There are so many ways to style it! For spring and summer, I like to wear white button-downs that are more lightweight to avoid getting hot. My favorite high-quality button-down is #1 by Frank & Eileen. You can wear it to the office, with denim shorts, or pretty much however you want! #2 is a lightweight option by Bella Dahl. This brand has amazingly soft fabric and multiple button-down options. #3 is a popular option by Rails and comes in multiple colors. Rails is also known for their super soft fabric.

Make sure you read the fundamentals of a white button-down shirt here.

#2 | White Cotton Tops

Cotton tops are perfect for spring and summer because they keep you cool! You can go with a basic cotton tee or have a little fun with this. Just pick something that goes with your style type. #4 is a beautiful, feminine option by Ganni. I own other tops by this designer and love them! I bought #5 earlier this year to refresh my cotton tops and have worn it so much already! It’s by Free People, has beautiful details, and a lovely fit. #6 is a great option if you like to keep your arms covered, need help building a shoulder, or just love the statement sleeves trend!

#3 | Tees

Basic white tees are a must-have for any season. But our tees sometimes get a little gross after a full season of wear. So you need to update them. My favorite white tee is #7 by Madewell. It’s a GREAT price point (only $19), soft, lightweight, comfortable, and easy to throw on with a pair of jeans or shorts. It also comes in a tank and crewneck version. If you want something with more interest, try a strappy tee (#8) or something with a cutout (#9).

#4 | White Silky Tops

These silky white blouses should be ones that are a little more elegant than the above. If you watch my YouTube channel or follow along on Instagram, you know how much I love Frame blouses. I have a ton of them and just love the way they fit and flow, how they tuck into jeans so easily, and how effortlessly elegant they are. #10 is a beautiful smocked neck silky Frame blouse that I love! I styled it here and here if you want to see some outfit ideas. If you work in an office, #11 is perfect for you! You could wear it with pants or skirts and tuck it into jeans on casual Fridays. #12 is a sexier silk top option by Generation Love. The halter neck is a sophisticated and sexy way to show off your shoulders. And it has pretty lace peeking out on top to give more coverage.

#5 | White Statement Tops

Statement tops are not on the wardrobe basic checklist but I thought it would be fun to throw in a few wildcards for those of you who already have your basics. #13 is a really fun tulle swiss dot top by Ksenia Schnaider. The fabric and subtle pattern make it a gorgeous statement top. #14 is a little sexier with sheer fabric and a deep v neckline. It has lace and smocked trim for added femininity and pretty puffed sleeves. #15 is more modest. The peplum is also great for anyone wanting to hide a tummy.
