Ready for Summer Shoes?
Are you getting excited about warmer weather and spring and summer fashion? Well, let’s not forget about shoes! I thought it would be fun to focus on fabulous footwear. (Who likes alliteration?) I’m breaking down all my favorite summer shoes from casual to comfy to glam. There’s something for everyone in this shoe roundup. So… let’s get to it.
1) Strappy Shoes
Strappy shoes are very on-trend this season from flats to sandals to heels. These strappy espadrilles are one way you can try the trend! If you’re looking for a shoe that will transition easily from spring to summer, these closed-toe beauties are for you! They are both comfortable and stylish with a very manageable heel. I love the lace-up straps and now I know how to keep them from sliding down! You can check out the style hack that I learned in Spain for how to keep the straps tied all day long, here. I’m wearing the color “Blush Linen” which goes with everything. These would be a perfect pair of shoes to pack for a vacation because they’d work for sightseeing, out to dinner, shopping…and the list goes on.

2) Elevated Sneakers
These Chloe platform sneakers are a splurge, but I love the unique blanket stitching and mixed media style. They are figuratively and literally…elevated! Can we talk about the platform? It’s 2.5 inches and at 5’4”, I love a little added height. They come in 4 other options including some fun, colorful styles, and black. I’m also still wearing my Golden Goose sneakers a ton which are another great choice for summer. If you like a platform sneaker but need something a bit more budget-friendly, these would be a cute option as well.

3) White HOT
White is another hot shoe trend this season! These Bottega Veneta mules are made of stretchy leather and are incredibly comfortable (for heels). They also come in a gorgeous neutral shade as well. These will work beautifully with all your spring and summer outfits from casual shorts to dressy maxis.

4) Braided Beauties
Braided sandal styles have been on trend for a while now and there’s no sign of that slowing down. The braided mules by Raye on the left sold out quickly last summer but they are back and currently in stock in all sizes! On the right, I’m wearing a similar pair from Express which have a slightly lower heel. Both pairs are comfortable and would look lovely with Easter dresses, white dresses, Mother’s Day dresses or just jeans and a cute top like I’m wearing above.
If you are looking for a white dress this summer, you can find my favorites for women over 40 here.
4) Espadrilles
Another heavy hitter last summer were these See By Chloe platform espadrilles. I love them! I wore them so much on our cross-country road trip (which you can read all about here). They’re really comfortable and EASY to walk in because of the chunky platform and ankle strap. You can stand for hours in these, no problem. This exact pair is sold out, but these are very similar and I really love the light and airy crochet fabric detail. A great pair of (comfortable!) espadrilles are a must-have for summer.
6) Studded Sandals
You also might remember these Steve Madden studded sandals from last year. I wore them on trips to Arizona and Mexico and they are still going strong, which says a lot about their durability! They were a best seller last year so I know you all loved them too. The clear straps are still very on-trend and the studs are chic and cool. They’re also really comfortable and easy to walk in. The studs remind me of the popular Valentino Rockstud sandals…which are also gorgeous.

7) Slides
If you don’t already have a pair of comfy slides for summer, what are you waiting for? I bought these Rag & Bone slides while I was in Spain last summer and now they are 50% off, here! They have a memory foam sole and spongy foot straps which basically make them feel like your favorite slippers, but you can wear them out of the house too!
8) Dressy Heels
If you’re looking for a gorgeous pair of luxe summery shoes for just about any event…that are also a cinch to walk in… you’ll love these Loeffler Randall sandals! They have a low heel. Yay for a low heel! I love that they’re gold so they will truly go with everything. And the knotted bow on the toe is so feminine and pretty. These run narrow so that is a consideration if you have wider feet. Otherwise, they run true to size. They also come in a slightly higher heel if you are looking for a bit more height!
9) Statement Sandals
If you are looking for a dressier pair of summer shoes for a special occasion, wedding or just because, I have one word for these shoes…exquisite. These gorgeous, Cinderella-like, Mach & Mach sandals are nothing short of stunning! When the light shines on them through the window, these sparkle to no end. They were very comfortable (for heels) right out of the box so no break-in time necessary.
#10) Strappy Sandals
These pretty white sandals combine two hot trends for spring and summer….white and strappy! This exact pair of Jagger sandals are sold out, but this pair by Tony Bianco is nearly identical…And, I love the updated square toe which is super popular right now. If you’re not a huge fan of a high-heeled mule, the added ankle strap on these provides a bit more support when walking.
*BONUS*
You know how I love a good bonus ?I wanted to point out some brand new pairs of summer shoes that I just ordered! I’ll be sharing more about these soon, but here’s a sneak peek…

Those Mercedes white slide sandals are horrible. They look like what one would wear after foot surgery. Only the cast is missing from the picture. I was surprised to see you wearing and promoting them. American women are already wearing appalling “comfortable” sandals. These are right up there with the most unattractive. I was happy to hear that the Mach & Mach heels are comfortable but from first sight, I found them to be just too much and did nothing for an attractive foot. I find that their massive size throws off your visual balance. Plus, I am not a fan of the square toe. However, I adore most of your suggestions. You rock.
I’m glad you are enjoying some of my suggestions, Catherine! That’s the beauty of this community, it’s so diverse in its preferences. I love trying all different styles and these two serve very specific needs in my closet. The Mach & Machs won’t appeal to everyone, but I’m really smitten with them…they make me feel like a princess. ~Erin xo
I hope the square toe look goes away soon. I find it very unattractive since no one’s feet are square at the toes.
We understand not all trends are for everyone. Hopefully, you saw some other shoes you liked. Thanks for sharing and for being here, Mary! ~Team Busbee
I’d like to comment on Golden Goose sneakers and my experience with them. For a start Erin says to size down but I disagree and would definitely size up. I went into the Golden Goose store and had to go a size up in every pair I tried on. I finally decided on which gorgeous style and was told that they would be broken in after a few wears. Not so. Two months later and multiple attempts to wear them I still have to carry a packet of bandaids around with me and they don’t seem to be wearing in at all. So disappointing as I love the look of them but they don’t love me.
So sorry they didn’t work for you, Robyn! Everyone’s feet are different and we appreciate your sharing your experience! ~Team Busbee
