Spring Haul Shopping Preview
One thing that’s right up there with dental work or standing in line at the DMV…sell outs. Ugh. There’s nothing worse than finding that perfect something and then it’s no longer available when you need it. That’s been happening a lot lately and I think it’s because after a pretty brutal winter across most of the nation, many of us are ready for some new spring finds. So, I wanted to give you a little leg up on some shopping action. This spring haul preview includes everything I just ordered! As I sift through new pieces and decide what I love most, I’ll be sharing images and fit details. But for now, if you’re in the shopping mood, I thought you might enjoy this little sneak peek!
And if you are in the shopping mood, you’ll want to check out my Spring Capsule Wardrobe finds here.
Spring Pants, Jeans & Jumpsuits
You might recognize these Banana Republic cargo pants from this post. I bought them before my trip to Utah with Chris and have been surprised and how often I’ve been wearing them. So, I decided to also grab a pair in Cream White. I ordered my regular size, but instead of getting the Short length, I decided to try the Regular length. That is another thing I love about these pants…aside from being versatile, they come in Short, Tall, Regular, and Petite lengths/fits. I’ll probably style these with sneakers for a casual look and strappy sandals or wedges as we head into summer. I also ordered some white jeans and 3 cool utility jumpsuits I’m excited to try! They’re all lightweight, on-trend, and so chic for spring. Here’s a preview…
Spring Tops
If you’ve been following me on the blog for a while, you might already know all about my love for the Rails Ellis top. I’m wearing it in the image above. It’s gauzy, super light, washes well, and has been a travel staple (like I bring it on EVERY trip) for years. So when I saw there’s now a short-sleeved version, you bet I had to try it! I also grabbed the most gorgeous Frame cornflower blue top to wear with white jeans, a pink and white striped top by Maje (yay for pink!), the prettiest lightweight sweater, and a few other versatile standout tops for you to check out.
Spring Dresses
Last year I bought this beautiful Jonathan Simkhai dress and loved the cutout detail at the waist. Cutouts continue to be a huge trend again this year! If you’re not sure you can wear this trend but want to, you can check out this post for an added dose of confidence. There is a very chic and sophisticated way to wear cutouts without feeling like a 20-something! I ordered 2 dresses with cutouts and a few lightweight maxis and crisp white dresses I’m eager to try.
Swimsuits
I’ve been a big fan of Vix swimsuits for years. Their pieces are unique and sexy…case in point, this Vix bikini top and bottom I recently wore on my trip to Utah. I kinda went a little overboard ordering several different Vix bikini tops, bottoms, and a one-piece because that’s just what you have to do when it comes to swimsuits. My method is always the same…order a bunch online and try them on in the privacy of my own home where I can really take my time to decide what fits and looks best on my body type. Then you can always return what doesn’t work.
I also ordered a Trina Turk pink ruffled bikini top and bottom that I think will look so beautiful this summer. This particular print comes with multiple bottom and top options that you can mix and match. And one-piece options too!
You can check out this post and this one for details on all my favorite swimsuit brands that are sexy AND flattering for women over 40.
Spring Shoes & Accessories
One of my go-to brands for summer sandals and wedges is See By Chloe. I’ve been wearing these wedges non-stop! I love the extra height especially when I’m wearing shorts and jeans (pictured above)! I decided to order these See By Chloe light brown platform sandals to try next. They have a stacked heel and some edgy gold studs. I know they’ll be comfortable and pair beautifully with all my spring and summer closet essentials.
I also found the prettiest lightweight scarf for travel (great for covering your shoulders), a leather belt bag that I can’t wait to get my hands on, and some new statement earrings. Here’s a look at each…
BONUS
I had to save the best for last! These next 2 pieces are a matching set and I was SO happy that they arrived in time for my next family trip. More to come on that soon! This Veronica Beard jacket is a 2-in-1. Since I was limited on how much I could pack, I absolutely love that the bottom of the jacket zips off so you have a shorter cropped jacket as well as a longer jacket. So versatile and cool! This jacket is the perfect example of fashion and function coming together. I also got the matching shorts that have a cinched high waist and a flattering wider leg opening. I’ll probably wear the set together but definitely as separates too since it’s such a wearable neutral color!

I don’t understand this utility jumpsuit trend? It looks like we’re ready to get to work on the toilet!
Cargo and utility styles are definitely huge right now! I personally love them, but feel you should only wear the things that YOU love and feel great in… Skip the rest! ~Erin xo
WOW! $350 for a pair of shorts!! Is that maybe a bit over the top? Looks like you’re now speaking mostly to a certain audience. I’ve enjoyed your videos for years and I LOVE your style but, lately, it seems like most of the clothing you show is more and more expensive and I find myself feeling a bit sad that they are beyond my financial reach. Oh well, I can dream.
Thanks so much for your feedback, Elaine. I feature the items that I’m loving right now, at various price points. We do also work very hard to share similar items for less as well and are always happy to search for more specifics for you! Here’s a few great pairs of shorts for less that I think you will enjoy.
