Valentino Wedge Shoes Review
Do you remember the Valentino sandals review I shared about two years ago? I shared my honest opinion on those sandals and if I thought they were worth the money. I’ve done a similar review on the Golden Goose sneakers but if you’re a longtime subscriber, you already know how I feel about those 😉 You’ve loved these posts so today I’m sharing the Valentino wedge shoes review and holding nothing back!
By the way, if you’re interested in shoe trends, make sure you check out this post next!
Valentino was started in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and has been a famous, powerhouse luxury brand ever since. Valentino is most well-known for their iconic Rockstud styles and it’s really what differentiates them from other popular designer brands. Their shoes are also what they’re very well-known for…they have SO many styles ranging from kitten heels to stiletto pointed-toe heels, to the popular strap pumps, rockstud flats, and rockstud pumps. The designs are so recognizable that if you purchase a pair of shoes by Valentino, people will know they are Valentino immediately.
You all know I love designer items, but they have to really be worth it for me. Valentino has a wide range of shoes and since I tried their sandals, I decided to try out their espadrille wedges too. Below, you’ll find my brutally honest Valentino espadrille wedge review with details on sizing, break-in time, and…answering the most important question, “Are they worth the money?”

Valentino Rockstud Espadrille Wedge Sandals
There are a few different Valentino wedge styles including the torchon wedges, quilted espadrille wedges, and platform espadrille wedges. But I was most interested in trying out the classic Rockstud Espadrille Wedges for summer. Here are a few important notes…
Quality
Since Valentino is known for their rockstud styles and they’re such a high-end brand, they really have perfected the quality and look of their pieces. I love the stud details on these espadrilles that make an impact but aren’t too blingy. The studs are just on the ankle strap and the heel so they aren’t too much. The woven espadrille material and leather are also really high-quality, and you can tell they’ll last for years and years. The straps across the top of the foot and at the ankle are comfortable and don’t rub anywhere.
Break-In Time
Nobody has time for uncomfortable shoes! That’s why break-in time is so important to me (and probably to you). These wedges had pretty much no break-in time…meaning they were comfortable right out of the box. It’s important to note that they were comfortable *for heels!* I say this because, with any sort of heel, you will probably have some sort of discomfort. But these really are super comfortable and easy to walk in. The 3.75” heel combined with the .75” platform makes them a 3” heel, which is very manageable. The ankle strap also helps you feel secure.
Sizing
The espadrille wedges come in Italian sizing, which can be confusing. Most stores will give you a size breakdown, but I still want to give you examples in case you’re confused…
EU 36 = US 6,
EU 38.5 = US 8.5,
EU 40 = US 10
…and so on.
Nordstrom’s site suggests that if you’re between sizes, to size up 1/2 a size. My usual shoe size is a 7.5 so I ordered the EU 38 and they fit perfectly. Note: I have the Valentino sandals (which are available in half sizes) and found that they run true to size (I ordered my usual size).
The wedges don’t have a ton of cushion so even after a few wears, they don’t really mold to your foot like sandals with extra cushion would. So if you order a pair of these sandals and they feel too small, I suggest returning them and ordering 1/2 a size up.
Are Valentino Shoes Worth It?
These Valentino espadrille wedges are gorgeous, versatile, and a great piece to have in your wardrobe for summer. If you have the budget, they’re definitely worth the money. I love these shoes, they’re easy to get on and off, and the wedge makes them easy to walk in. Plus, they’re easy to style with jeans, skirts, dresses, shorts, etc.
That being said…I also really love my go-to See by Chloe espadrille wedges that are less expensive and just as stylish and comfortable. The Valentino espadrilles are a little dressier and edgier because of the studs while the See by Chloe espadrilles have a bit more of a casual and feminine feel.
