There’s just something about springtime and dresses that go hand-in-hand. Finally baring your legs after hibernating for the winter, and wearing a bright-colored or patterned dress feels so fresh and light! Erin got a jump start on her spring shopping when she and her family traveled to Belize late last year. She packed a few beautiful dresses, but one in particular really seemed to catch your collective eye. A striking blue floral with a flattering fit and flare silhouette. Gorgeous! But it’s on the pricier side. In today’s For Less Friday post we want to share a similar dress with a more affordable price tag that’s perfect for vacations, cruises, graduations, showers….really allll the spring occasions you have on your calendar in the warmer months to come.
If you want to see more of the pretty pieces Erin wore in Belize, make sure you check out this post next.

Versatile Spring Dress
Luxe | La Double J Sophia Dress
First up, we wanted to share this La Double J dress. We think the most gorgeous feature of this dress is the striking blue colors. Blue is just one of those shades that looks so good on just about every skin tone. It has a fit-and-flare style that accentuates the smallest part of a woman’s frame, just under the bust. It also has pockets and a modest yet modern midi length. Erin loved wearing this dress in Belize and thought it was insanely comfortable and pretty. The fabric is a stretch cotton poplin that didn’t wrinkle in her suitcase and the scooped square neckline shows just the right amount of skin. She wore it with her See By Chloe wedges in a neutral tan color for a little extra height and leg lengthening. Stunning!
For Less | Maeve Halter Midi Dress
Now for our look for less! This Maeve midi dress from Anthropologie isn’t an exact dupe, but there are some very similar features to the La Double J dress. The floral pattern and bright blue color are just as gorgeous. It has a similar scoop front neckline, but it actually has a halter strap vs the tank straps. It has a fitted and slightly asymmetrical bodice, a midi length, and the hemline has a bubble effect. We should note that while the background of the dress comes off as pure white in the picture, it’s actually a pretty pale lilac color! This dress is made from cotton AND is machine washable. Oh, and the price is $178. Significantly less than the La Double J dress and versatile enough that you can wear it for both casual and dressy occasions.
You could wear this dress for SO many spring events by mixing up the shoes and accessories. For a more casual look, you could throw on a cute denim jacket and some comfy slides. Then, to dress it up try some platform wedges, slingbacks, or heels with a crisp white blazer.

[…] may remember this vibrant La Double J dress from one of our recent For Less Friday posts. The bright blue print is so beautiful and perfect for a spring wedding so we had to share it […]
Good neutral blazer to wear with wide leg white or blue jeans…jcrew has a cute short sleeve sweater khaki lady jacket and I love it but would also like some long sleeve options and then some shirt options. Also some cute summer or brown (to match belts) cross body bags that cost $150 or less
Thanks for sharing these great ideas, Lori! We will add them to our list. In the meantime, here’s a few blazer options for you to check out! Hope this helps. ~Team Busbee
