2024 Hot Style Trends

Cheerful Cherry

Red demands attention. It symbolizes everything from romance to power to danger and wearing red is going to get you noticed. Period. But, in a good way! The trendy thing about red this year is how to wear it. Can you combine reds even if they don’t match exactly? Yes! You can even pair your favorite red with its sister colors like burgundy and pink. And wearing it with black is always a safe bet if you prefer to tone things down a bit. There are a ton of gorgeous winter red fashion pieces out there. But if you still feel hesitant, accessories like a red bag, shoes, or even just a red lip are easy ways to dabble in this trend without going all in.

In the looks above, Erin is wearing a cropped A.L.C. red jacket (now on sale!) with distressed jeans, and also the matching pants as a chic set. The blazer has a unique asymmetrical wrap front that gives it a modern and sophisticated edge. If you are worried about wearing a cropped jacket but want to give it a try, just remember you can wear a longer tee or tank underneath untucked, or tuck in a blouse and add a belt to highlight your waist. This is a quality jacket you’ll have for years and that you’ll wear more often than you realize!

Another hot color trend right now is all things metallic. We share several affordable metallic finds in this post along with some accessible ways to incorporate metallics into your everyday outfits.

Modern Western Trend

We hesitate to even call it “a trend” because western-inspired clothing, handbags, hats, belts, and boots have been popular for years. But, even if you aren’t a Texas native and want to try the elevated western trend, there are so many cool ways to test it out. The key to pulling off this trend without looking like you are headed to the rodeo (but yahoo if you are!) is pairing western-inspired pieces with your basics. You can look for elements like suede, contrast stitching, pearl buttons, and unique details with denim. But the easiest and most accessible way to dabble in this trend is to find the perfect pair of cowboy boots!

In these images, Erin is wearing a sleek pair of Lucchese cowboy boots that are super chic and versatile. The chunky heel makes them easy to walk in, and they’re great to wear with dresses or jeans. The black color goes with everything! Erin paired them here with a casual sweatshirt dress by Isabel Marant E’toile (that is currently on sale!). This would be a great look for a casual meal out, errands, or shopping. These gorgeous boots with their flattering pointed-toe will also work under your favorite wide-leg jeans or over a pair of skinny jeans.

Classic Houndstooth

Houndstooth is a sneaky pattern because it’s very classic and timeless…and sometimes doesn’t really come off as a print. It’s most frequently seen in black and white so it plays like a neutral. But you can also find houndstooth pieces in other shades like deep browns, reds, pinks, etc. Houndstooth is polished, sophisticated and refined. But when edgier details are combined with houndstooth (like sheer panels, bold hardware, or ruffles for example), it can be flirty and modern too. The great thing about houndstooth is that it truly is always in style and on-trend. Houndstooth pieces will remain in your closet for YEARS. So, it’s a great investment. The classic print just keeps gaining momentum when styled in fresh ways season after season.

Here Erin is wearing the trend with a classic Veronica Beard houndstooth dickey blazer. It’s perfect for the office paired with a black skirt or trousers, but you can also wear it with jeans for a more casual look. It’s more versatile than you might think!

Fuzzy Textures

Faux fur, shearling, feathers, and textured fuzzy sweaters are all a part of this winter-friendly trend. These luxe textures add so much interest to your outfits taking them from mostly OK to extra fabulous. Texture is one of those tools you can keep in your wardrobe arsenal to top off a monochromatic outfit (also very on-trend). A simple sweater and jeans outfit is instantly dialed up when topped off with a faux fur coat or jacket. A fuzzy sweater isn’t just cozy, it’s inviting…it has transformative powers ? Vests, scarves, and hats are other ways to dabble in this trend without going all in…but we LOVE going all in.

In both of the images above you can see how a faux fur jacket and coat are the star of the show in Erin’s outfits. And since these layers typically provide added warmth too, there is no time like the present to dive in! Keep in mind that fuzzy textures can add bulk to your frame. So unless you want that very all-over oversized baggy head-to-toe look, consider pairing these pieces with more streamlined bottoms and tops.

Another popular winter trend (that eeks into spring too!) is leather and faux leather. You’ll find some gorgeous leather finds in this post. But if you are looking for faux fur shearling or teddy coats, we shared a bunch of beautifully cozy options in this post.

Working Girl

It’s certainly not uncommon to see blazers, pinstripes, and loafers in the workplace. But the Working Girl trend takes these pieces beyond the office and makes them street-style cool. And while shoulder pads seem to be a polarizing topic…you can always channel your inner Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith in the movie Working Girl) in true 80’s style! Tweed lady jackets, chunky loafers, and tailored vests can be paired with jeans for a less corporate, more everyday look. Loafers in particular are a key aspect of this trend. And one of the easiest (not to mention comfortable!) ways to embrace it.

Erin styled a pair of Dolce Vita loafers in this look with a chic lady jacket by Maje and a pair of Frame leather pants. To recreate this look, you could also wear a pair of black jeans or a pair of baggy denim. The idea here is to embrace the juxtaposition between the work-inspired pieces (blazer, loafers, etc.) and edgier modern pieces (leather, joggers, distressed denim).

See the many ways Erin styles these same Dolce Vita loafers in this post for more chic inspiration.

*BONUS* Coquette Trend

The coquette trend is still going strong and likely not to lose momentum anytime soon. In fact, even since we last discussed the trend in this blog post, there are new style attributes to all things coquette. First, a quick recap on what this trend is all about…femininity. Flirty, soft, girly elegance but with a 2024 twist. Lace and florals are one way to try the trend, and in 2024 we are seeing bows everywhere. Bow accents on tops, sweaters, dresses, bow jewelry, and hair accessories. Everything from the smallest to the most dramatic bows are everywhere.

In this look, Erin is wearing an & Other Stories tie-neck blouse that is no longer available, but you can try the trend with a similar top. You can also look for bow accents on shoes or handbags if that feels more your speed.

So, which of these trends resonates with your most? We’d love to hear about your take on the trend so please share in the comments!
