Why A Vest Is The Perfect Transition Piece
It’s important to have basics you can wear over and over. But adding pieces to your wardrobe that aren’t basics… is also REALLY fun! I’m sharing a standout piece that isn’t necessarily a basic, but it’s a heck of a lot more versatile than you might think. You can even wear it year round!
Rust Vest
This longline vest is by BCBG and very versatile. It’s a beautiful color that works for spring/summer. And it will be beautiful in fall/winter too! You can wear it open (like I did), or tie it in the front. The longer, duster style also creates the allusion of being taller and thinner.
This vest runs VERY large. I’m wearing an XXS. I’m normally a small for reference.

Summer Look
For summer, pair the long vest with an all-white look for a super fresh outfit. I’m wearing cool raw hem, wide-leg jeans by Mother with a white short sleeve bodysuit. To keep the all-white look going, I’m wearing white Stuart Weitzman booties. But you could also wear wedges.
For the accessories… I’m wearing a gorgeous gold necklace, a brown belt, a new white bag, retro white sunglasses, and my new favorite smartwatch. I did an entire post on this watch here.
Fall Look
If you’re already thinking about how you can wear the vest this fall, I have some suggestions for you!
Throw on a pair of dark wash jeans, a cute long sleeve top, and booties. It’s that simple! You can even tie it up in the front for a completely different look. The color of the vest will make the outfit pop and you’ll still look long and lean!
This vest has matching pants too. The set would be STUNNING for a special occasion and SO unexpected.
