Game Day Outfits For Moms
Let’s start off with the most casual occasions for my fellow sports moms. I’ve spent more hours than I can count at lacrosse games. When you’re on the sidelines, at stadium events, or tailgating comfort is paramount! These summery outfits will keep you looking and feeling cool.
#1) Jeans & Elevated Tee
In this look, I’m wearing an elevated t-shirt by Steve Madden (only $49!), some light-wash summery jeans by Grey Lab Jeans, New Balance sneakers, and a cute, striped cardigan from J Crew. The tee is one of those that can be worn dressed up or down because of the beautiful eyelet short sleeves. For the jeans, the cuff detail is modern and a little different…I love the cool factor. Comfy sneakers are an absolute must for any busy mom, and I really love the retro look of these. And…they’re under $100! If you haven’t already invested in a pair of white sneakers for summer, these are a great option. I finished the look with a 3rd layer which is essential where I live in Colorado. If you live in a climate that has warm days and cool nights, you can always tie a light sweater over your shoulders or around your waist so you are hands-free.

#2) Shorts & Long Sleeve Top
Shorts are pretty much a summer staple and are perfect for those sporty days. I’m wearing a pair of DL1961 shorts made of a cotton-linen blend that have a flattering relaxed leg, high-rise, and deep pockets (perfect for your cell phone!) I’m also wearing a light and breezy Free People top with long sleeves that will offer you a bit of coverage from the sun but won’t be too warm. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of Sam Edelman slide sandals, but you could swap those out for sneakers too.
Disney Outfits and Zoo Outfits For Mom
If you’re planning any days at Disney, a theme park, the zoo, fairgrounds, or just anywhere that you’ll be outside and doing a lot of walking, you want to be comfortable, but you can look stylish too! A few years back when the kids were little, I took them on a solo trip to Disney. If you are interested in reading more about what I wore, you can check out this post next.
#3) Skort and Gauzy Button-down
When it comes to merging fashion and comfort, this cotton skort by Staud with the snap button front can’t be beat…it’s very cool! I’m wearing it with this gauzy, lightweight button-down by Velvet. I love the short sleeves, v-neck, and how easy it is to tuck in. It’s a little more elevated than your basic white tee. If you’re doing a ton of walking, I’d probably swap out the sandals for some comfortable sneakers. You could also swap the tote for a hands-free backpack or belt bag…and throw on a cute hat for some added sun protection!
#4) Denim Shorts & Tee
In this look, I’m wearing some denim shorts and an elevated t-shirt by Nation LTD with some Golden Goose sneakers. The t-shirt is super soft and I love the flattering V-neckline and short puffed sleeves. When trying on shorts, it’s important to do the bend-over test to make sure everything you want tucked in…is. While super casual, this look is still very put-together, comfortable, and perfect for a day of walking.
You can read more of my tips for feeling confident in shorts over 40 here and specifically how to wear denim shorts at any age (and look amazing!) here.
#5) Denim Shorts and Gauzy Button-down
This outfit is actually one I wore during a super hot day in the Middle East last spring, but it would be perfect for any day you’ll be outside and walking a ton. I’m wearing the same denim shorts as the previous look and paired them with my go-to Rails button-down shirt. It’s super lightweight and gauzy but you get that added arm coverage with the long sleeves. I’m also carrying a crossbody bag so I can be hands-free. On my feet, I’m wearing See By Chloe platform sneakers which I’ve actually even hiked in! That’s how comfortable they are!

Beach or Lake Day Mom Outfits
These next 3 outfits are things I’d wear for a beach or lake vacation but they really are perfect everyday outfits too!
#6) Matching Summery Set
First up is this super cute and summery set by Bobi. The top is a really soft gauzy cotton. You can wear it on or off the shoulder, it’s cropped, has a lot of elastic, is very comfortable, breathable, and…versatile! I’m wearing it with the matching pants in the same comfortable gauzy fabric. This is the perfect day-to-night beach or lake outfit. Wear it over your bathing suit OR with some strappy sandals for dinner. It’s so breezy, comfortable, chic, and fun!

#7) Lightweight Sweater & Shorts
I wanted to show you another way to style these cute DL1961 shorts from Look #2. Since the temps here in Colorado were still 45 degrees last week ? a summery sweater like this linen-blend one from J Crew is a must-have for me. But, it’s also perfect for those cooler, outdoor nights at the beach. The fresh nautical stripes and gold buttons are so lovely. You could easily wear this sweater with your denim shorts, over a tank dress, with jeans, etc.
#8) Versatile White Dress
This is one of those think-outside-of-the-box beach or lake day outfits for mom. Could you wear this beautiful maxi dress from Sezane to dinner with some woven platform sandals and a clutch? Absolutely! But, you could also wear it as a coverup over your bathing suit. Just roll up the sleeves and leave the tie undone or tie it in the back and now you have a pretty dress that functions for multiple occasions! I especially love pieces that I can wear a few ways when I’m packing for any trip or vacation.

Girl’s Night Out Mom Outfits
With all the momming we do each day, taking time to go out with the girls or plan a date night with your partner can help restore your sanity. It’s so important that moms take time for themselves.
#9) Jeans, Tank & A Blazer
As a mom, it doesn’t get much easier than jeans and a tank. But to turn things up a notch, you can add a cropped blazer, statement earrings, and a pair of heels. These jeans by L’Agence are some of THE most flattering I’ve ever owned…and I own a lot of jeans! They do run long with a 34” inseam, but if you are on the petite side like me (I’m 5’4”) you can cut the raw edge hem for the perfect length or wear them with heels. I’m wearing them with a crystal-chain detailed tank by Generation Love and a cropped A.L.C. blazer. Worn over the tank, the cropped blazer creates waist definition that is so flattering. Plus you get that extra coverage during dinner when the restaurant cranks up the air conditioning! If you think of this look as an outfit formula, Jeans + Cami or Tank + Blazer + Heels, you can likely create this look with items you already have in your closet.

#10) Cutout Dress
This A.L.C. shirtdress is another great option for date night or GNO. The cutouts at the sides add a little sexy touch but you’ll still be comfortable and chic. I love the fit of this dress, the deep v-neckline, the sleeves AND…the pockets! It’s pretty much perfection. I styled it with some See by Chloe espadrille wedges that I’ve had for a couple of summers now and still grab when I want a little extra height without sacrificing comfort!
#11) One-Shoulder Cutout Dress
If you like the look of the last dress but want something a bit more budget-friendly, this next one-shoulder midi dress by Moon River is a fraction of the cost. It’s sexy, simple, and chic. I love the one puff shoulder and small cutout that’s strategically placed for that flattering effect. Since it’s a one-shoulder, you have to consider the bra situation, but you could wear a strapless bra or nippies. I’m wearing it with sky-high platforms by Sam Edelman that are the same color as my skin to create the illusion of longer legs.
#12) Fitted Midi Tank Dress
While I’m putting this next dress in the date night category, there are a million places you can wear it. It is such a comfortable LBD! A tank dress is a great option when you want to look and feel casual but pulled together. It’s one of those versatile pieces that’s easy to throw on and style. I’ve had this dress for years and still wear it. It’s cotton, not too trendy so it won’t go out of style, and it’s great to have for everyday or travel. Just switch up your shoes and accessories to dress it up or down.
#13) Sexy LBD
This last date or girl’s night out outfit has a bit more va va voom and is definitely more on the dressy side. If you’re looking for something extra special, this Norma Kamali dress is for you. It’s super sexy, has flattering ruching in the midsection, an asymmetrical hemline, and a beautiful portrait neckline. If you have a large bust, this might not be the dress for you, but if you have a small to medium bust, it’s a great, affordable special occasion dress.

Concert Outfits For Mom
OK, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to a concert, but if I were going to a concert at a large arena or stadium (Taylor Swift anyone?) I’d probably dress one of 2 ways.
#14) Pink Top, Jeans & Sneakers
For a super casual concert outside or on the grass, I’d want to wear a cute top, some jeans, and comfortable sneakers. This gorgeous, pink Jonathan Simkhai top has a pleated twist front detail that draws the eye in at the smallest part of most women’s bodies… just below the bust and above the rib cage. These Mother jeans are the perfect length for me to wear with these Rag & Bone retro runner sneakers (that I now own in 3 colors!) This comfy look is still elevated but very easy and relaxed.
#15) Cutout Mini Dress
Now if the concert was indoors and a little less casual, I’d want to up my style game AND the cool factor. This denim dress from Cinq á Sept would be perfect! It has subtle cutouts at the waist and a slightly open back with a zip closure. The vertical top stitching is really flattering and the slight puff shoulder helps creates volume on my top half and that triangle effect to define my waist. The denim has some stretch to it so it’s extra comfortable too.
Party Outfits For Mom
There are all kinds of parties over the summer ranging from casual kid birthday parties and BBQs to adult dinner parties and garden parties. These next looks are all versatile in that you can dress them up or down depending on how casual the event might be. Just an easy swap of your shoes and accessories…and potentially adding a 3rd layer.
#16) Comfortable Jumpsuit
This would be such an easy outfit for a casual birthday party. If you like the ease of a one-and-done piece but still want extreme comfort, try a jumpsuit! This Air Essentials jumpsuit from Spanx is seriously next-level comfortable but you’ll look and feel very put together. You can wear a regular bra with it which is always a bonus and it comes in multiple lengths for the perfect fit. I’m wearing my See by Chloe platform sneakers and the Regular length (30.5” inseam) but it also comes in Tall and Petite. If you want to dress it up a bit, you could add some jewelry and/or swap out the shoes for some wedges.
You can read more details about this jumpsuit and some of my other favorite pieces from Spanx in this post. And, don’t forget to use the code ERINXSPANX to get 10% off at checkout!

#17) Crochet Sweater & Jeans
Another look that would be perfect for a BBQ or casual dinner party but a little more elevated is this beautiful lilac Veronica Beard cropped sweater and white Mother wide-leg jeans. The sweater is great for those evenings when you want a little coverage but the open-work crochet knit details still offer some ventilation …so you don’t overheat. I’ve been wearing these jeans non-stop since I got them. They aren’t see-through and they are the perfect length for me with the 4” Valentino wedges. This is an elevated take on a simple jeans and summer sweater look.
[flex_row][/flex_row]
#18) Vest & Cargo Pants
How chic is this matching set from Ramy Brook? This is definitely an unexpected, cool mom look! Vests and cargo pants are very on-trend right now and this set covers both. The vest has a tailored, flattering fit with a V-neckline, an adjustable back, and pretty gold buttons. The matching cargo pants are the perfect lightweight fabric for summer. This head-to-toe monochromatic look is also super elongating and slimming. The pants are a little long on me so I’m wearing them with platform sandals. So, if you are 5’4″ or under you may need to have them hemmed. Just add a pair of slick aviator sunglasses to complete this fashion-forward look!

Bridal and Baby Shower Mom Outfits
These next 2 looks are outfits you could wear to a bridal or baby shower but would also work for a baptism, graduation, or other dressier summer occasions too.
#19) Shorts & Blazer Set
I LOVE the stunning cobalt blue color of this matching short and blazer set from Alice & Olivia. This brilliant blue looks so amazing on most skin tones! It’s made of a linen and cotton blend so it’s lightweight for summer. You can wear each of these pieces separately but together they really pack quite the punch. The shorts are high-rise, have functioning gold buttons, and about a 3″ inseam. The cropped blazer has an open front, notch lapels, and the same matching gold buttons on the cuff as you see on the shorts. To complete the look, I’m wearing the same Generation Love tank from the Girl’s Night Out Looks, some pearl hoops, and a pair of Valentino Rockstud espadrille wedges. This outfit is such a sophisticated head-turner for summer.
If you’ve had your eye on the Valentno wedges, but you’re not sure if you want to spend the money, you can ready my full review here.
#20) One-Shoulder Maxi Dress
If you need a dress that’s both comfortable and elegant, I can’t say enough about this beautiful and feminine dress by Ralph Lauren. I love the flattering asymmetrical neckline and pleated details. The tie belt is great for some added waist definition. I also really like the length because of 1) the coverage and 2) it makes it appropriate for church events and showers. If you need additional coverage, you could always drape a white blazer over your shoulders. This would also be a perfect wedding guest dress.

Question about the Grey Lab jeans – What is the rise in inches? Also, how do they fit? Will they make multiple rotations in your closet? Are they TTS? Thanks, Erin! All the clothes in this post are adorable. I love the JCrew striped cardigan you’re wearing with the Grey Lab jeans – I want them both ☺️ – Cheers, Katie
I am loving these jeans, Katie! They feel perfect for the summer since they’re a lighter wash, and they are true to size – I went with my normal size of a 26 and they fit just right. They’re high-rise, I’d say around 11″ which I LOVE! I’m so glad you enjoyed all of these looks. Please let me know how you like anything if you try something out for yourself!! ~Erin xo
