#1 – Black Dress with Sandals
First, I want to talk about this chic and oh-so-versatile ME+EM dress. The best part is definitely the fabric. It’s a Ponte jersey that’s wrinkle-resistant (great for travel) and thick and structured to hide any imperfections, but still lightweight to keep you cool. The silhouette is also super flattering. (I love a fit and flare dress) The V-neckline creates an elongating effect and seam details around the waist give you a beautiful hourglass shape. I love that the dress has cap sleeves, to soften shoulders and get some arm coverage. The sleeves and longer length also make this dress office-appropriate if you’re searching for that perfect black work dress. Oh…and it has pockets! For summer, I styled it with a pair of simple black, heeled sandals. But you could style it with pumps for work or strappy heels for dinner. Next, see how I’d style this for fall…

Sizing: This dress runs small, order one size up. I’m wearing a 6 and usually wear a 4.

#2 – Black Dress with Boots & Tights
You’ll notice in the next couple of outfits that I’m adding a few new pieces to each look to add warmth and really elevate the look more and more. In this look, I added a belt, booties, and tights. When you’re wearing an all-black outfit or any monochrome outfit, you want to vary the tones and textures to add depth and interest to the look.
The textured, croc-embossed belt does just that and helps accentuate the waist. Next, I threw on some polka-dot tights. I love the look of patterned tights, but you could also go with a pair of classic black sheer tights. Finally, I completed the look with a pair of chic patent leather booties from ME+EM. Ankle boots are a must-have for fall/winter but I love the cool, shiny patent leather and vintage-inspired silhouette of these boots. The block heel makes them easy to walk in, they’re comfortable (for heels), and the ~2” heel is very manageable and adds just the right amount of height. They also have a side zip so they’re easy to get on and off, which is a must for busy women like us! They run true to size. When I wear booties with dresses or skirts, I prefer a style that fits close to the leg, like this pair.

#3 – Black Dress with Knit Top
If you want to add even more warmth and style, try wearing your little black dress with a chic top underneath. I’m wearing this cool, color-blocked, knit shirt that really takes the look up a notch. I love how the ivory on the shirt contrasts against the black dress… but the black cuffs and neckline on the shirt still make it feel cohesive. This top is a wool and silk blend that feels so luxe, and adds warmth, but is still lightweight and breathable. This is one of those pieces you can wear under a dress like I did, with jeans for a casual look, or with leather pants for an elevated but comfy date night look. It runs true to size.

#4 – Black Dress with Jacket
The last piece I added to create the perfect fall/winter look with this little black dress is a gorgeous jacket. I can already tell that this bouclé beauty is going to be a heavy hitter for me this fall. The cream color is beautiful and unexpected for fall, the buttons look and feel luxe, the weight is perfect, and the fit is SO good…it’s structured, not too cropped, and has a bit of a boxier fit. I can see myself wearing this with everything from jeans and pants to dresses and skirts this fall. It runs true to size (I’m wearing a 4). If you live in a really cold climate, you might consider swapping this jacket for a coat instead. ME + EM has tons of gorgeous, high-quality coats and jackets that will last for years and years.
